For comparison, over his 48 Championship appearances for Swansea last season, Grimes netted three times and provided three assists, as well as making an average of two tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 0.9 key passes per game, seeing the midfielder earn a seasonal WhoScored match rating of 6.97.

Matty James might not get the biggest headlines and was never part of any football at Leicester City this season, playing on loan for Barnsley and Coventry City. James turns 30 in July, and his record of picking up injuries is long and ugly.

But still he has been a player in demand for clubs in the second tier, showing that he can push the midfield area and doing that job with excellence as points are picked up during his loan spells, and in his first seasons at Leicester City being a trusted first teamer picked steady and continuously.
Matty James has actually been at Leicester City almost as long as Wes Morgan, joining together with Richie De Laet in May 2012, adding up nine years in blue, but as we all know in his last three seasons at the club just been involved in two games, due to heavy injury problems and spending time on loan elsewhere.
A total of 101 league games, scoring 4 goals in those years and also spending time on loan at Barnsley, twice, and Coventry City and also helping those clubs to a prominent and respectable table position a bit surprisingly in front of more established clubs at this level.

Brendan Rodgers could not see a future for Matty James at Leicester City, and with the quality in the midfield area and at the level the club are competing at, it would have been more seasons on the fringe and difficulties, so TCF believe that both parties, club and player, did feel it was the right time to split and move forward.

To see Cardiff and Swansea both in the mix as they are preparing for a push for promotion is not surprise as their men in charge knows the qualities of the player and that he can be greatly involved in such a battle, being a key player when Leicester City won promotion and were crowned champions of the Championship back in 2014.
