Andrew Devine RIP 23:05 - Jul 28 with 703 viewsbritferry

Hillsborough claims its 97th victim as Andrew Devine, 55, dies 32 years after suffering horrendous injuries in football disaster that left him permanently disabled

- Andrew Devine was just 22 years old when he went to watch Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest in 1989
- A coroner's inquest in Liverpool today ruled he was unlawfully killed as a result of the Hillsborough disaster
- Andrew was not expected to survive the day after his chest was crushed and his brain deprived of oxygen
- Despite being confined to a wheelchair, unable to speak and able to eat only puréed food, the love of Andrew's family kept him going, but this evening they released a statement confirming he had passed away

The fact he sustained injuries at this ‘ football match’ and those injuries led to his death, albeit some years later should only result in this board paying its utmost respects to Andrew and his family.

Andrew was the son of Stan Devine who was a Merseyside inspector with whom I worked.
Great bloke was Stan and he bore the pain of his son's disability and trauma bravely. Stan died last year.

I am grateful for this message being relayed .

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not
