| The Championship is weird 08:44 - Oct 19 with 1553 views | Dr_Winston | Blackburn are top of the table despite having lost two more games than us. Not a single draw so far this season. Burnley have lost six games fewer yet are second having drawn more than they've won. Only three teams have conceded more than us which gives you some idea of where our Achilles Heel is. Coventry are bottom of the table and have conceded eight goals fewer. We've got every chance of being involved at the sharp end come May if we can cut out the stupid goals conceded, add a little pace in January and get Piroe firing again. | |

The problem for me is that Piroe isn't much cop upfront on his own without close support from midfield, ideally from Paterson. Cooper has done well but I don't think he has the guile Pato does, which doesn't help Piroe. Those two built up an almost telepathic understanding last year and we've barely seen it this time around. Obafemi has been and out of the team for largely stupid reasons so hasn't really had a chance to pick up any consistency. There's never been a lack of effort from him and he's much better at leading the line than Piroe, but in a similar way now and again he needs help. We need to get them both in the same team, playing in the way we know they can play (Oba up to, Piroe at #10) ASAP. Let them play themselves back in. If we can get Paterson in there as well so much the better. All three of them played at Cardiff last year and that was pretty glorious.

Tricky call on those points Dr - for me agree that Oba is a more natural 9 than Piroe, particularly when he plays on the shoulder as he is good at spinning & get his shot away, however significantly less clinical than an in form Piroe in terms of goals to chances. It looked like we’d found a way with Oba at 9 & then playing one or two 10s with Piroe plus one, last season usually Pato as the other. That said it means Oba aside we lack pace in our side so don’t have an out ball when we come under sustained pressure. Cooper adds some pace (not much granted) plus lots of effort & industry vs Pato and is still early in his career so may develop into a useful scorer, so personally I’d persist with him plus one or both of Oba & Piroe dependent on the opposition. We also need to use Oko-Flex more regularly as his pace & willingness to take a defender on gives us different options & offers us a counter threat when teams are pressing us. Manning back as LWB plus Sorinola as RWB gives us more stability & with both Darling and Cabango becoming decent set piece threats we are starting to look like a half-decent side. Our Achilles heel & probably what will ultimately stop us is that whilst we still generally dominate the ball when we do give chances up they are of the big variety not the half chances a better defence restricts the opposition too. Hey ho, makes for exciting games most of the time!
| The Championship is weird on 09:33 - Oct 19 with 1467 views | Dr_Winston | I wouldn't be surprised if both Oko-Flex and Stevens are recalled in Jan. They're simply not getting enough game time here, and playing a CB ahead of either of them out wide is borderline insulting. To be honest I'm not entirely convinced by Cundle either. I would hope that the club have options lined up for Jan, because the right couple of moves, even good loans, would make so much difference. | |

| The Championship is weird on 14:23 - Oct 19 with 1304 views | Badlands | Oko made a big difference last night. By hugging the touchline he took pressure off the right side attack and stretched the play. His twisting and turning also led to their player injuring himself while trying to foul our player. I can understand why Martin wanted Naughton on by it will almost certainly lead to the loanee being recalled early. Ps How does Olli Cooper qualify for Wales? | |

| The Championship is weird on 14:54 - Oct 19 with 1288 views | RichardO | Congreve like Oko Flex and even Obgeta with his five minutes of fame, caused defenders problems out wide not needing the assistance of the attacking midfielders who are then given more options to get into the danger area of the penalty box and able to support our isolated centerforward(whoever that is) also leaves room on the edge of the box for the like of Fulton and Grime. Both Latibeaudie and Sorinola are learning on the job to try to be wingers and are both more comfortable on the right and if we have options on the left ithey should be used then instead of them, same could be same could be said for the right side. Both have done jobs for us this year but think they will struggle to be accommodated both in the same team. Ground out a good win yesterday but we do make it hard for ourselves at times.
