I have come to the conclusion that loans of players who are not top top quality is for clubs without a sound strategy. (Guehi Gallagher excepted) The club is now overstocked with senior management and recruitment professionals Signings this season have not been great to date. The Christmas hamper of loans is full to the brim with keen young fellows who have not led to great performances. Comfort eating. Quick fix signings with no long term benefit. Ashby, Rushworth Humphreys, Lowe and Patino will be long gone by June. Swansea will still not have a trusted goalkeeper, no pace, no creative midfield player, no set piece expert no physical centre forward if Kukharevich is always injured. Cotterill and Josh Thomas are not getting game time on loan either. Not good enough to force themselves in to league 1 clubs. I would make an arrangement with Huw Jenkins at Newport to get guaranteed playing time for these guys in league 2. Mid table is the best we can hope for this season and probably next. The Strategists and Senior management need to invest in players like Wood and Azeem and continue to develop home grown players and bring in more of the players like Key. Surely the recruitment people can find prospects to match Ashby. It might be time to cull those that will never make it. Too many 'ordinary joes' on extra ordinary wages. Secure good prospects like Wood and pay him properly on a long term deal and Azeem and other like this. | |
