Honest unbiased journalism by mainstream outlets is mainly dead, whether it's in print, on camera or social media .
The are some good independent outlets but the mainstream media is bought, the mainstream either doesn't report stories that doesn't fit its agenda, or if it does it gives a one eyed view.
The classic example is Gaza, Western Governments backing a genocide and the so called 'free' media not quizzing their Governments on their complicity.
There was more being held to account by the press decades ago, I understand not reporting or biased reporting when this country was directly involved like Northern Ireland or Afghanistan or America in Vietnam etc but when things happened overseas not involving us like Palestine in the 70s, 80s, 90s etc it would be reported unlike now.
I seen some American professor type saying about their newspapers have become biased, I seen that Oborne guy over here saying something similar about our papers.
I watched a couple of episodes of an independent media outlet reporting on our air base in Cyprus doing spying missions for Israel, interviewing a lady Cypriot politican crying outside our base because what we was doing, today they interviewed an Australian woman that said what happened to them on a recent Gaza flotilla it was awfully they were beaten, tortured and raped yet our Governments don't care, they care more about certain foreign nationals than their own nationals.
People were commentating 'why aren't the mainstream media interviewing that lady' and why aren't the media asking the Government 'what are you going to do about it ?'
What struck me was I could have been watching 'World in Action' or 'Panorama' decades ago the presentation style, the research and the interviews, the mainstream media would never make stuff like that now, it's up to these small bands of independent investigative journalists, that very few people get to see.
