Anyone know why SwansTV has just the one commentator and no halftime show? Given this and the fire sale at the team shop it seems we’ve run out of money or something of the sort?

Hospitality at the Liberty - worth it?
at 18:30 19 Feb 2020

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of advice here.

I’ll be making my biannual trek in April and was considering trying something new this time. I’ve never tried hospitality as I’ve always just sat in the East Stand. Financials aside, what are your feelings on the hospitality offered at the Liberty?

I generally am by myself for my visits and Easter weekend will be no exception. Would this make hospitality more or less favorable?

Thank you in advance for your guidance here.

Leeds seem to be loving a foul today. We’re getting shoved to ground constantly by them. Seems a plan of theirs...

Stateside Jack's meeting with club
at 20:10 18 Feb 2019

Seems like I'm quite late to this party.

I have had a few issues with them (SSJ) from a much higher level than has been discussed here. In actuality, the biggest I have is maybe less with them and more with the club. Back right before this season the club decided to formally recognize supporters groups abroad (like the SSJ) and make them official. SSJ then formally decided to make up local chapters led by random people they decided upon. As far as I can tell, this was all done very non-democratically and without much consideration.

Anyhow, I'm a Trust member based in the US who is also vaguely familiar with the SSJ. I believe I'm on their mailing list or what have you. I come back to SA1 a couple of times a year, but don't really make social media events out of it like some supporters based in the US have done. Maybe I'm just a bit old fashioned when it comes to social media and the like, or maybe I'm just more of a loner. Who knows?

What I'm getting at is that the majority shareholders have made PR blunder after PR blunder from the very beginning. Their handling of foreign supporters groups is no surprise and no different. Decisions seem to be made without fully fleshing out their repercussions or how they might look to the supporters as a whole. If there is a choice to be made, one can honestly bet that the incorrect decision will win out. By recognizing specific foreign supporters groups, giving them access and power that they would never otherwise have and that they can take away at any moment, the club have exerted narrative control over a group of supporters. While this might have been positive PR for some supporters outside of Wales, for others (like myself) this was another PR blunder. Also, does anyone see how this might be a bit similar to the handling of the sell-outs by the corporate overlords? Toss a dog a bone every once in a while and you'll have its loyalty, right?

Now, regarding the SSJ, one cannot be surprised that a formal arm of the majority owners' might make a PR mistake or two. I'm sure that the SSJ folks are decent enough people, but when you make bedfellows with the club's corporate overlords don't be surprised when you have to sing for your supper.

Anyways, I must say that I hope all supporters of the club are welcomed anywhere they might go, but I can also understand a bit of the SSJ outcry. They, like the majority owners, seem quite tone deaf to the supporters who aren't American. I'm sure the SSJ folks are top class and mean no ill will at all, but these days if you're even loosely associated with the club and are making PR missteps don't be surprised when things blow up in your face.

Met Katie from Seattle tonight in the Lower East and...

Not quite sure why her coming to see a couple of matches has become a thing.

I come from Seattle to see games fairly regularly and no one writes articles about it.

Guess I’ll chalk that one up to my lack of twittering.

It didn't help that Naughton gave up early, as he's been prone to doing. His man waltzed in for a tap.

I don’t think a anyone’s writing them off. I just think a win over the likes of Ash and Clueluss would be that much better.

As I only make it back for a trip or two a season, I’m now quite pleased that I’ll be back for Stoke away.

Now, if only we can get some loan signings...

Trust Update...
at 22:59 18 May 2018

Just for a bit of clarification if someone is wondering about the timing....

My thinking is that, at least under US law (not sure about UK), the Trust had a best chance with legal action once there was a proven "loss" on their part. Meaning, by the new "owners" taking charge potentially illegally and then devaluing the Trust's shares by securing relegation the Trust has a genuine "loss" because the Trust's shares are now worth considerably less.

Hang your heads in shame Swansea players
at 18:52 22 Apr 2018

With all due respect to the lot of you, I have to admit that Man City were so good today that they made us look worse than we really were.

We werent good, not one bit. That said, we were bystanders to a clinic in possession football. Could we have shown more fight? Sure, probably. Would it have altered the result? Not a chance.

I just hope it doesn’t come down to goal difference.

How Many Players...
at 21:51 9 Feb 2018

I would think that we'd certainly need a LB no matter what happens.

Assuming Leon is done and Mesa is really gone, we'll maybe need a CDM/holding CM of good quality.

Assuming Ki leaves I see us grabbing another CM of some type.

Assuming we have a fit Ayew duo, I would like to see one decent target striker in the Fernando Llorente mould.

A speedy left winger or a set-piece taking CAM would be the other need. Sadly, I wouldn't see us getting both.

So, I guess that all means that our shipping list (in my view) would be: 4 quality players, more if we sell. I'm not holding my breath though.

Ayew & Ki swap.
at 02:58 30 Jan 2018

My thoughts exactly. I would only make the swap if it were Ki + £13m or less for A Ayew.

I cannot imagine how it would make any sense to pay £18m + Ki (valued at £6.3m on Transfermarkt) for Ayew after we sold him for £20-21m and he has certainly lost value since then. Transfermarkt has him £16.2m.

That said, I wouldn’t put anything past our brilliant DoF.

On another note, assuming we put a sell on clause for A Ayew, do we get some of our own money back?

I don’t know that we’re persuing Gaitan for a loan deal. It’s not like we can dictate wages if a player is loaned as they’re already under contract. That is unless he signs a new contract with Atletico.

Roque Mesa leaving
at 18:23 23 Jan 2018

I think it was one of those instances where he couldn’t handle the physicality of the Premier League. The fella’s got heart and talent, but he’s just one of those players that’s a tad too easily out muscled. He sure did give it a go when he was out there though. Can’t fault a man for giving it his all and failing.

Also goes to show how rare a smaller guy like Leon is in the Prem.
