Just to be clear, I am not an Israel apologist and, to anyone who knows me, I have criticized their response to the Hamas attack but if you believe we should boycott watching Eurovision because Israel are in it then we should also boycott the Euro's as well, no?
As for putting watching Eurovision on one side of the scales and thousands of dead Palestinians on the other, that's just disgusting. Next you will say anyone who owns a German appliance or drives a German car is a Nazi, your logic is very flawed.
Anyway, I debated whether to reply but your comment was so disgusting I felt compelled to. I won't be replying again.
Croatia now favourite after the first semi-final but like cha cha cha, it's likely to score badly with the judges. Switzerland should tick both the public and judges boxes so is still the favourite for me but I would prefer Italy to win but she's usually hanging around 5th favourite.
I was tossing up between Leeds and Southampton but then looked at the form and was surprised how well Norwich have been doing of late. If you take out their Birmingham rest day and a defeat to Leicester, they are on a bit of a roll.
If you didn't watch a minute of the world cup then well done for standing by your principles. Most of us were aware of the atrocities committed by the Qatari government but chose to watch the football anyway because we like football and it wasn't our fault that FIFA chose to host it there.
I could point fingers at every multi national company on the planet and have a long list of reasons why you should never buy anything from them but if I did that, I'd be left with about five local companies to supply all my worldly needs.
I said you made a fair point but to then suggest that anyone who thinks pop music is more important than 40k+ people murdered over the last 6 months is extremely disingenuous. That's not like you Esox, I like Eurovision and I choose to ignore who the sponsors are and the multi-billionaires behind it because there are scumbag multi-billionaires behind everything and there's nothing I can do about that (that is going to make any difference).
Like I said we all have a choice and I applaud you for making your stand but, like vegans who scream 'murderer!" at anyone eating a hamburger, we aren't really the problem.
A fair point, just as it was to boycott the World Cup in Qatar. Come for the football/music or stay away for the politics/murderous regime's. We all have a choice.
Edit. This was in response to a post by Esox that has since been deleted. In case anyone is wondering wtf I am talking about.
Hadn't seen that before. I mentioned earlier that I think the winner will come from the 2nd semi and it's intersting to see six of the top seven in that vote haven't performed yet.
For any undecided's, here's the running order for the 2nd semi and watch out for the LFW select 6 a-side team representing Estonia (not a bad tune either).
I haven't seen any pro Ukraine talk this year, a few countries were going to boycott it if Israel weren't booted out but that talk died away a while ago as well.
I'm not sure why some people feel the need to post negative comments about something they don't watch. You don't see post after post on the Frankie thread saying "this is sh1te!". I'm sure many people here might think it but if it's not your cup of tea, fine, move on, nothing to see here, this isn't for you.
As I've mentioned before, on first hearing most of the songs in Eurovision are 'meh' and if all you do is hear them once then that's what you'll be left with. Songs you hear on the radio grow on you the more you hear them, basic stuff really so yeah, I get where the haters are coming from. I feel disappointed EVERY year when I first hear the Euro entries and without fail say "There aren't many good ones like last year" but after hearing them a few times, guess what, some turn out to be pretty decent tunes.
Anyway, it's total crap if you don't watch it/only hear the songs once or it's a bit of fun with a few decent tunes if you give it a chance, up to you really. Peace out.
*Edit* Sorry Robith, missed you saying 'hypocrisy' and you are right. Hardly any "stay strong for Palestine/ban Israel" talk this time.
A big tradition now with several families around the world trying to pick the winner. Ukraine and Croatia the two standouts in the 1st semi but I think the winner is in the 2nd one. Italy is my favourite but I think it will be either Switzerland or (even more crazy than cha cha cha), the Netherlands.
Just finished Baby Reindeer and watched the last two episodes again as the missus fell asleep the first time round. There's a bit of artistic licence as it seems the on stage breakdown didn't happen in real life but he did tell the story at the Edinburgh festival and that went viral and led to Netflix contacting him but it's still an impressive bit of acting.
As someone who's had to deal with a stalker it does shine a light on the darker side of it and the path it can lead you down. Thankfully my experience wasn't anywhere near as bad as that, mine impersonated four different people that would message/email me so there's more than one way to be a deranged stalker.
A thought provoking ending to the series as well, he's a much better actor than he is a comedian.
I never said he wasn't within his rights, what are you on about? Plymouth, who would not have relished facing Hull on the last day, would have gone down if they hadn't have won. A draw sees them down on 49 points and a loss with 48 points. I'm sorry these facts offend you but that's your problem.
Yeah that wasn't really the point of my post. Tonto was congratulating those who said 51 points would be needed to stay up but it was very nearly 49 points with a -11 goal difference.
If we had held on for the win at Plymouth we would have finished 14th but we didn't so we finished 18th.
