The Calciopoli Scandal (2006)
Juventus faced their heaviest sporting punishment in 2006 for match-fixing and influencing referee selections.
Relegation: Demoted to Serie B (Italy's second division) for the first time.
Title Stripping: Stripped of their 2004–05 and 2005–06 Serie A titles (Scudetti).
Point Deduction: Initially given a 30-point penalty in Serie B, which was reduced to 9 points on appeal.

Capital Gains and False Accounting (2023)
Juventus received financial and sporting penalties regarding irregularities in transfer fee accounting (Plusvalenza).
Point Deduction: Docked 10 points during the 2002–23 Serie A season after appeals, dropping them from second to seventh place.
UEFA Ban: Handed a one-year ban from European competitions and a €20 million fine by UEFA for Financial Fair Play violations in 2023.

Rangers were placed in the Scottish Third Division in 2012 due to severe financial collapse, liquidation, and a subsequent vote by lower-league clubs.
Financial Collapse: The historic club suffered from years of financial mismanagement and unpaid taxes, sending the original company into administration in February 2012 and eventual liquidation in June 2012.
New Company Formation: A consortium led by Charles Green purchased the club's assets and formed a new corporate entity ("newco"), requiring them to reapply for membership in the professional leagues.
SPL Rejection: Scottish Premier League (SPL) clubs voted to refuse the new company direct entry into the top flight.
SFL Vote: The Scottish Football League (SFL) member clubs voted 25–5 to reject placement in a higher tier, choosing instead to enter the restructured club at the bottom of the professional pyramid in the Third Division for the 2012–13 season. |

Hackney Wick worked fine last time if the Mildmay line (or North London Line as I used to know it) is convenient. Gets you to Highbury and Islington and west London quickly. Short queue to get on to the platform. |

Clear red for me. If you dive in recklessly (I can't see how it wasn't reckless) you risk causing serious damage. The fact that the PNE player was just a millisecond late so didn't get the studs on the shin is irrelevant. Cirkin took the risk diving in like that.
Players losing control and lunging like that are nearly always dangerous. |

Very sad, but what an inventive musician. I think I remember (memory not what it used to be!) seeing him at the Lyceum probably in the 80s - an evening of endless melodies woven together in a continuous stream. If anyone can confirm that would be great.
Good to see some jazz fans among the Rs faithful. At one of my earliest games, probably the famous 75-76 season, there was a guy standing on the loft terrace holding a Coltrane album - a sure sign that we attracted 'cool' supporters! |

On the West London pod they talked about needing to rest Kone and maybe just give him 60 minutes. I thought that sounded very sensible, but he really took his chances in those last few minutes. Very glad he stayed on - he deserved those goals for his effort as much as anything.
But like most I'd still make Smyth MotM. |
