Agreed Southernram it's just one opinion some will agree some disagree and that is right and proper we all see things through our own eyes.
Football is all about different views and opinions, I can only write as I see it, which I did.

Sorry meant to add League and Cup, the above have made over 200 appearances for the Rams. Perhaps another factor is that with the club (like others) moving backwards on salaries and playing staff, it becomes harder to retain and offer improved contracts that were the norm in the nineties and early noughties. We, I think, all agree the Rams played incredibly well against Stoke. My quarrel is that Clough signed Maguire, Maguire scores goals, we trail in a cup match when to win we need to score more goals than the opposition and our manager gives up. He brings on two defenders and effectively conceeds the game. Maguire, Ben Davies or Masson Bennett would have at least given us a chance. Clough gave up, I won't give up I've supported the team home and away since the sixties. I can live with us losing I would rather we lose 5-0 rather than bring two defenders on in a game we need to at least try to win. |

Clough not playing Maguire was part of the problem. Those who played gave their all, we should all be proud of them. Clough and his tactics were the problem. How can you defend his substitutions? What more can you ask of a striker six goals in four games and he still isn't chosen when you need a goal. Clough out!!! |

Thanks for the comments Oldbri and as an ex-referee myself I guess I should know the rules.
"If in his opinion a goal has not been scored correctly, the Assistant Referee should stand still" however in practise this is translated as if the ball is then cleared off the line and kicked upfield the AR would just follow play and run up the field. Of course if he stood still he would be out of position. Clearly not desirable.
"To confirm a valid goal has been scored, an Assistant Referee should display clear movement down the touchline towards the centre line. In borderline cases, this movement should be clear (sprint) to be recognised by the Referee." Again with the ball being cleared the AR runs up the line very similar to a goal not being scored. It can be difficult to seperate the two actions.The only way of distinguishing between these two cases is for the Assistant Referee to run PAST the play to the half way line. This I didn't see at Ipswich, did you?
In the my time a Linesman was asked to give a clear signal if a goal had been scored, and then back to the half way line as fast as possible so that it was harder for players to protest the decision.
Some time things aren't clear and a simple raising of a flag once then a sprint was in my mind a clearer system, however in the current days of the Officials being miked up there is no excuse for a eight or nine second delay as to whether a ball has crossed the line IMO and that is where the comments come from. Poor refereeing from all concerned.

LOL love your partisan view. However the ref booked more Derby players than Norwich despite the CAnaries committing more fouls. Lansberry could have been sent off, certainly deserved a yellow before his unacceptable rant at the Linesman when he didn't get a foul. So two cautions and off. Lucky in our eyes if not yours! We felt the ref was heavily a "homer" ;-)
Personally having re-read the match report, I felt the report was overall positive to yourself and specifically praised Jackson and Hoolian!
Finally we all know Savage could start an argument in a phone box but Savage having an argument with Savage?

Comment | A Derby Fans Ode To Leeds United

You named that song in one WanChope, It's all about the team, it started with the way they played in the sixties/seventies and became a Revie/Clough divide.
As to Leeds as a city, it's vibrant full of life and I have spent many enjoyable times there (not wearing my DCFC shirt I will admit). The fans are like us passionate and knowledgeable about their football.
Derrysdouble thanks for the comments, you don't give a fig about us which is ok, it's just like Manure supporters who consider Leeds don't matter. It, I suspect, matters not one bit, Leeds hate scum like we hate your team. Long may our partisan attitudes prevail ;-) |
