FAO Gaming nerds

Always found the Kinect type stuff a bit of a novelty if I'm honest. By Boxing Day people are fed up of running up and down on the spot and prefer to sit down and shoot people online. The Kinect is/was about £130 with not many games for it too so if it was me I'd give it a miss.

Memory on the XBox probably depends how you buy the games. If you buy the discs I'm sure he'll be fine with that memory but if you will digitally download them then that may be different dependent on the number of games of course he owns over time.

Chelsea appeal against Thibaut Courtois red card
at 23:29 10 Aug 2015

It's utterly ridiculous that this is still being debated and appealed. Gomis is putting the ball into an empty net with Cahill two yards behind if Courtois does not foul him and if that isn't a goal scoring opportunity then I don't know what is.

I'll assume Chelsea will fail in their appeal but the damage is done again for all clubs outside the top four. Referees will again be reminded that any decision against the top 4 teams will be debated for days and days (even if they are correct) and they will just find it easier to give the decision in favour of the "big club" because after all who gives a toss a day or so later if something goes against "little old Swansea".

What would be great is if Courtois could be given an extra game ban to send a message to these big time charlies about appealing decisions but as others have said the FA don't have the balls. Let's hope they aren't completely stupid by rescinding the ban which would be damaging further for the rest of the league.

Phoning the tax office...
at 12:48 26 Jul 2015

The weird thing is for us accountants there is an agent dedicated line and you get through in two minutes flat. Not that I'm complaining.

With your situation I'm not sure there is much the Tax Office would do as they would expect your employer to have your P45 and probably just tell you to get a copy from him. He should have it really and one possibility that he is telling you he can't find it is that he may worry you had another job in between working for him and that he will be liable for this tax if that turns out to be the case.

He should have you on 1060L Week 1 and if that is the case then you may have to wait until the end of the tax year to claim the rest of the refund. If you are being taxed at BR then you can complete a P46 and I can email you a blank one of these if you PM me your email address.

Pub food in Swansea
at 09:40 19 Mar 2015

The New Inn in Clydach has excellent food.

They were taken over at the end of October and hired the Chef from the Millers Arms in Ynystawe which always used to be a favourite of mine.

at 14:42 20 Feb 2015

Fabianski
Naughton Fernandez Ash Taylor

I'd personally keep Dyer in ahead of Routledge but think the above is what Monk will play.

£1.7m profit for last season generates a £1m dividend payout
at 14:08 20 Feb 2015

Just had a check of the accounts and would make the following points;

Stock - Yes it has increased but in fairness in the financial year the Club opened an additional store in Cwmdu. Two shops need more stock than one and the stock figure would also depend when we took stock of the new kit.

Dividends - Yep, just over £1m but in 2013 there were dividends of £2.4m so the figure has decreased. There are retained profits overall of £15m after the dividend which is what the dividend is paid out of rather than the profit for the financial year.

I'm a bit surprised that match day income has decreased. With the Europa Cup fixtures I felt more games would equal more money although this is offset with not having games at home in the League and FA Cup slightly.

Playing costs increase I guess to be expected with the increase in squad for the Europa League (and probably paying people off when the Laudrup era ended). I'd guess even the purchase of Fabianski would be included ( his signing on fee) as he was purchased before the end of May.

I doubt player registrations were capitalised to help the directors make a profit. By law the accounts should show a true and fair view of the company and realistically valuing Bony in the accounts as zero when he is then sold for £25m would be ridiculous. In addition, if the club is seeking investment then they would a true as possible valuation of players in the accounts to increase the value of it.

Ultimately, it is healthy that we can achieve a profit without player sales (£20m - £25m of profit on Ben Davies and Bony to come next year). To have a deficit of net current liabilities of £18.5m is worrying (£700k previous year) but I guess that is the price to pay for investing in the playing squad/facilities. Let's hope it doesn't continue to rise though.

Yeah but Laudrup would have had us in the Champions League if it wasn't for the players plotting behind his back............

Apple and their profit!
at 14:25 28 Jan 2015

I wouldn't say every Apple item is ridiculously expensive although the new iPhone is and the joke of I'd expect the Airplane mode to take me of ****ing holiday for that price is probably true.

I've bought an iMac and they are fantastic. You can buy a cheaper PC of course but if you price up a PC with the same size screen and computer performance then the price is not far off the same. Depends on consumer choice I guess.

Same goes with iPads. Aren't Galaxy Tabs in the £300 - £400 range too? Yes, I'm sure a Hudl is cheaper for example but it is an inferior bit of kit even if some people are happy with it.

Anyone work for TMobile EE
at 22:51 26 Jan 2015

Some contract providers will offer to pay the remainder of the contract off if you sign up with them (depends how much cost this is I guess).

You can also trade in your phone at Carphone Warehouse and use the money they give you to offset the contract cost. Think I had around £80 for a Samsung S3 that didn't work in August.

Team for Saints game?
at 22:40 26 Jan 2015

Unless a deal is in motion by that time for Gomis to leave the next day then he has to start. No point holding onto an unhappy player and then benching him.

I'd start with Dyer as Barrow seems to make a bigger impact coming off the bench. If Britts is fit then Shelvey is of course going to play the no 10 role. If not Shelvey has to drop back (as no alternative) and Oliviera will probably play there.

Firstly, I was really impressed when I logged into WWE Network this morning and Reigns came up as the face of WWE Fast Lane on the log in screen. Thanks for ruining the Rumble result WWE you tosspots!

I didn't have so much a problem with Reigns winning rather than the way the match was booked. Throw Bryan out early so the fans have time to calm down, bring the Rock out in the hope the winner will be cheered etc. Why put Bryan in the match if he wasn't going to win it? He could have returned tonight from his injury and last night would have been a much better night for WWE for example.

Interesting that Heyman offered Brock to beat up Sting for HHH. Wonder where they are going with that? Sting v Lesnar at WM and Rock v HHH perhaps?

It is ironic that when you usually tell people to calm the **** down they do the complete opposite.

Laudrup took 24 points out of 24 games whilst in charge the season he was sacked while Monk took 18 points out of 14 games (I'll let you do the maths).

The fact is he had lost the dressing room and Monk did very well to steady the ship whilst a few Spaniards were throwing their toys out of the pram during the rest of that season.

There is also the argument that Swansea performed well in spite of Laudrup that year as he didn't want to sign Wilfried Bony as he wanted Aspas instead.

I've heard stories of his unprofessionalism towards the end. He apparently refused to meet Tom Ince, he gave a 20 second team talk at West Ham which was pretty much "watch them with the high balls" and the training was poor making the players unfit.

It would be pretty obvious that the players would be complaining to Laudrup before complaining to Jenkins but nothing was done.

As for Monk he's had a great start this season. There has been a few injuries recently but realistically we've had a heavy beating playing the best team in Britain when we had a patched up team out and we lost a game against lesser opposition yesterday because of an early red card. Calm the **** down perhaps is the advice.

Reigns for the Rumble for me. Did wonder whether Rollins would walk out with the title (cash in after the match perhaps) and have Reigns v Rollins for the title at Mania with DB facing Lesnar.

True. By the sounds of it Punk was very vocal and they probably thought the best time to get rid was then especially with Daniel Bryan's popularity overtaking Punk at that point.

Punk does say he successfully sued the WWE though so not like WWE is not at fault either.

I was hoping for a big Rumble return but sadly that looks out of the window now.

Thought he spoke well. Interesting how WWE suspended him and then fired him rather than the "walking out" story they have portrayed for months.

Think if you don't get on with HHH or are outspoken then it is the end for you there. WWE have all the power as they have no competition and it's their way or no way.
