Charles was MoM; you saved a pen to save a point, and his follow-up and other saves made the difference. Karma absolutely dominated midfield in the first half but tired in the second. Luckily, the Fins decided they didn't need him :P. JCS was a monster, only second to Charles. He absolutely dominated the defence. JCS was top class in this game.
Adamson has now shown he's ready to be a full-time pro at this level. Think last season we're borrowing Morgan at RB. Kemper was also awesome against Bowen.
Poko was a bit absent; you won't face L1 opposition every week in PNE. So, needs a full season in the Championship. Kolli was decent and made Kone look poor. Kone looks like Celar these days. Still injured, I would say. Vale looked useful at LB. So, he can do it if it's demanded of him.
One point to note: JS did his homework. A tactic Wet Spam uses is rotating Bowen with Walters-Peters to get Bowen up against the oppo winger, who he then beats easily to get into the box. This did not work, as Smyth, of course, will track back and put in the running. But this is defo a Wet Spams tactic. Smyth also added value up front and made Walters-Peters look Champ-standard; that has damaged his career. He won't be seen as a Prem fullback anymore.
The old guard of Dunne, Smyth and Kamara are carrying the kids through these games; it is what you need, and they are doing it.
It's simple: fewer homes being built, prices go up, and then big business takes advantage at scale (because now it's worth it to them). Why wouldn't big business make massive profits on the housing crisis when they can? So, of course they do.
The answer is to build very cheap council housing (affordable is a joke), as we did after WW2. We built roughly 1 million homes in 5 years. The myth is that these were pre-fab; no, only 10% were, and only temporarily. Most of these were replaced by the existing 1 million permanent homes.
And here is the key bit: roughly 80% to 85% of all permanent homes built under Clement Attlee’s Labour government (1945–1951) were built by local authorities (councils) rather than private developers. In this time we were GREAT, as in Great Britain. We did it, despite the economy being broken, and we were bankrupt, in debt to trillions to the Yanks.
So, let's be clear: private big-business markets (you know, the people who throw old ladies into the gutter) have had their way since Thatcher, and it's been a massive failure. 4 decades of complete and utter failure, compared to that WW2 Labour govt that only had one term. One single parliment! The evidence is clear: if we want efficiency, we need the govt to do it.
This is where people make snide comments like, "You're having a laugh, I work for the council, and they are terrible". Well, get this: the evidence shows the markets are worse. So, you can have your little quips with no evidence, and we are still without the homes, 80 years after that govt. If you love your country, then demand that the councils get the right to build homes.
So, what's stopping the councils from doing this now? Well, we need to reverse some of those Thatcher policies (we warned you what she was really up to, so please no immigrant crying on the right, as this is all your fault).
What Needs to Change: 1) Councils are heavily indebted and face massive day-to-day budget shortfalls (like adult social care). The government would need to provide guaranteed, multi-year direct funding grants specifically for council housebuilding (meaning it cannot be used for anything else), rather than forcing councils to borrow on commercial markets or bid against each other for small national plots. As we know, this means the savings come from avoiding putting families up in terrible temporary accommodation, supplied by money-grabbing landlords. But to get a return, one must invest. There is no free ROI; we have to invest.
2) Under current UK law, if a council tries to buy land, it must pay "hope value", the inflated price the land might be worth if granted planning permission for private luxury housing. To build cheaply, the UK would need to reverse compulsory purchase laws so councils could acquire land at its actual value, removing developer speculation (the market's word for fantasy and making stuff up).
3) Decades of outsourcing (Thatcher and Blair's market mindset) mean most councils no longer have the internal staff to run major construction projects. Reverting to the old model would require rebuilding local authority development departments from scratch (giving people jobs), rather than relying on external private developers to build a small percentage of "affordable" (which never are) units on private estates. This would also, of course, create real British jobs for locals, and they'd spend their money and taxes right back in those local areas. Need to reinvigorate Clacton-on-Sea? This is how.
4) Councils currently lose homes almost as fast as they can build them because of discount purchases. Rebuilding the old system would require the local council to keep 100% of the sale proceeds to fund an immediate 1-for-1 replacement home. I would put 100% of the proceeds back into a fund that the council can only spend on homes in that local area. Here someone will say, "But that's Thatcher's idea". Nope, she said right to buy, but not right to own, or have your kids own theirs when they move into their own council homes. The owning was all for her rich landlord friends and the Banks. This keeps it sustainable, unlike Thatcher's failure (which we warned you about at the time and decades after, so no crying excuses).
5) Local planning committees frequently block high-density housing developments. Reverting to mass council building would require streamlined planning rules, such as mandatory top-down housing targets or flexible zoning codes (we can zone out floodplains), giving councils an automatic presumption in favour of building social housing on viable sites. No more land banking by developers (makes it harder to corrupt officials as well), and no more building in flood areas that councils then have to literally bail people out of and pay for with our taxes (funny how no one on the right ever rages again and again at those greedy developers for building on floodplains, so much for the hard right; more like a bench of sell-outs). You will see lots of people on the right complain that this is unfair for compo, but we are building homes for our people, its not about markets, its about people being homed. And it saves the taxpayer money. So, boo hoo, poor greedy developers, right-whinging snowflakes.
This would just be the start and shows how it could be done. But this requires something even more difficult for people to get their nut around .... Socialism. Oh no, looney lefties!
The markets have failed again and again for decades. So the only loons here are the people who think markets will somehow save you, or that some version of capitalism will work if we keep "tweaking" it. Well, we have been tweaking here for 80+ years; people have been born, paid taxes and died in all that "tweaking" time.
No more lamo right-wing snowflake whinging and distractions, no more excuses for the markets or capital; we have done all the so-called tweaks; now it's time to go back to what we did to make Britain Great, and that's to build homes the Clement Attlee way, as it's proven, because we, this great nation, did it once before and we can do it again. But the only way it will happen, the only way, is with Socialism. And that is the only way.
He's supposed to be lightning-fast, more Burrell-than-Kone type of player, despite his height.
I think the plan was for Obikwu to be the backup if Burrell got injured. Instead, Obikwu and Burrell both got injured last year, and we have no direct replacement for Kone as a number 9. Although Burrell has been winning way more headers this season. But he's injured too now.

I would guess from what we know so far, which is not much, that it was a bunch of criminals looking to steal fuel from a weakly guarded airbase which has lots and lots of expensive fuel.
Before that happened, our security forces must have ID'd them, thought they looked dodgy (as in somewhat organised, but clearly not tradecraft levels), infiltrated them, and then the inside man realised this was a waste of time and handed them to the coppers (when they had a chance to call out).
Maybe Iran did try and tap up some crims with the line of "steal some expensive fuel", and the crims did not realise it or did not care, and that's Iran's involvement of "go steal some stuff", which would look embarrassing for the yanks as their security is exposed.
Also, Iran gets to expose that this RAF base, despite its name, is really a Yank base launching operations in the Middle East from the UK. That could be the real reason for Iran's involvement, not to blow up stuff but to embarrass the UK govt and the Yanks.
But as the crims were so bad (parking up 3 massive white vans outside someone's house where nobody usually parks anything) and the op failed, now Iran probably does not want to admit to a failed attempt to embarrass the West, as actually the embarrassment is on them for such a bad handling of it all.
This is all a guess, and I am not making excuses for Iran, as I believe they are a dictatorship, and I am against dictatorships, but I have seen little evidence so far that this is really terrorism.
This would explain why they are out on bail, as it looks like an attempt at petty theft. If it does turn out to be this, then we need to look at the media and journos, who blew up this nothing story as the only thing that did get blown up.
He's had the worst injury one can have even though he is only 23, but hits 24 this season.
He has the skill, but his best position in my view is a 10 and not a winger. On the wing he has ahead of him Vale, Smyth and, of course, Poku. As 10, Chair, Kone and possibly Madsen are ahead of him.
He does not play right wing, where Saito and sometimes Chair or Smyth are ahead of him again.
Therefore, when he returns, he's really gonna have to start delivering from the subs bench to then get into the team.
He has the skill, not only in dribbling or crossing but also in through balls and shooting. But now, there are no more off games; he has to deliver, or he's out. What Saito has taught us is that we can get just the same average elsewhere, and that's not gonna be good enough.
Smyth has upped his game with 6 goals last season and two already this one, and at 29. So, there are no excuses for the rest of them. You can improve, but you have to stay at it. The squad has improved, so there are no more free rides, and we have too many wingers.
Dembele will have to deliver once he's fit enough to play, or we should get rid.
Decent youngster, will get better for sure. Makes us look good that a 17-year-old can make the team regardless of the circumstances.
There will be some players big clubs like City and Arsenal let go at the end of the year; they will say to themselves, "I am better than Scarlett; I lasted longer at Arsenal", and at that point we have a chance to get em on the cheap or free.
So, good PR this. Come to QPR, you will get a career and be developed.
Man on the edge of the box for a corner, not marked, not charged down, and no one near him; remember they had an extra man too. Criminal by PNE, and they are an L1 team in waiting. Worse than Oxford last season. But Smyth did the correct approach, hit it with the nearest foot, kept it on target and walloped it hard.
Notice Smyth is scoring more often; last season and so far this season, his goal-scoring is looking good. Maturing as a player and for a squad Champ player, he's really good.
He should play for NI, I don't understand why he does not get more caps for them.
At first I thought this was not a red. But even if you get the ball first, you can still get a red if it's high or reckless.
Cirkin overplays the ball and then slides his foot toward it, which is played into the PNE player. It seems just a clash of legs after the ball has been played.
However, in slow motion, you can see the studs are up on the follow-through of that play/tackle. It's a nasty tackle.

You can now see he went full studs in. It's a Red because of that.
He's onside, but that's because the defender tried to play him off way too late. Also, there are two of them, so there is no need to do that.
In addition, Celar almost misses it by playing it too far ahead of himself.
He was always a decent finisher, but you won't even get that sort of lame defending in the Champ, where it's a low block, he doesn't have Burrel's pace, cannot hold the ball up, and isn't a header of the ball.
