 | Forum Reply | EFL clubs to vote on expanding Championship playoffs to six clubs at 21:41 10 Feb 2026
My initial reaction was no but actually I also don't mind it. When the playoffs were first discussed lots of people were against it, how could 6th go up instead of 3rd. This is an expansion on that - will keep the league competitive a bit longer and aurguably give the teams in 3rd / 4th a better chance of going up by having more rest and one less game before the semi-finals. I like the current format and don't think it needs changing, but I don't think this is a terrible idea. I can't see it not being voted for - you'd think neatly all clubs would vote for it. I'd be much less keen on this happening with relegation places. |

Well done Joe, great to have all this positive talk about one of our keepers. Even better doing so after he has coming back from injury. |

That bench is definitely youthful. If you are glass half full is quite exciting to have so many promising youngsters. If your glass is half empty our senior squad suddenly feels quite light. My glass is half full and hope some get a run out later. |

I've been thinking about this more, and I really wish Morgan had gone our on loan. I don't feel him and Field cover the same areas - I think Morgan is more attacking and Field more defensive minded, and effectively cover left / right side of the pitch. I think a loan would really have benefited Morgan, and could have come back really strong next season. Hopefully he grasps his chance, but he is still pretty young, a good loan where he can make the odd mistake and learn a bit I feel would help. I can see why we did it, and I assume it makes financially it makes more sense, and he gets some minutes which I guess is good all round. Still feels a bit strange. Like everyone else who he has a great few months there. |

I get this on my mobile (Android) but not on my laptop (Chromebook) - both using Chrome. Strange. |

I quite like it, as Sheen says bit strange no mention of Morrison, but generally positive and hopefully a sign cooms continue to imrpove. |

I'll be sad if Field goes, sightly surprised also as he can cover so many areas of the pitch. I guess if someone is not playing and you get a good offer, then that is what we should be doing with our financial heads on - but is it a good offer? I guess salary off the books. It does feel like it might come back to bite us with all our injuries though. I'd be much happier if he stayed. |

I imagine medicals nowdays are fairly standard across champtionship clubs, but the difference will lie in the risks each club is prepared to take. If you've got loads of money, no need to take risks, if you have none take much more risk, and somewhere in the middle for others. I guess it's about it's difficult but also how much of your squad is 'high injury risk' and if that is worth vs the potential of those players. I say all this with no idea how medicals work in practice....but I believe there isn't really a pass fail, just a risk of x (I assume anyway) |
 | Forum Reply | 20 MPH at 15:23 29 Jan 2026
I have a road near me which switches boroughs half way and changes from a 20mph to a 30ph - a residential road which is bizarre. I'm generally for 20mph as it does seem to save lives even though I find it frustrating myself driving having learnt with much higher limits. I just feel on A and B roads it would generally be better if the limits were 30mph, with exceptions around schools and maybe park entrances etc and speed cameras more targeted around those areas. I've not looked for evidence though on where most accidents occur, maybe they are mainly on main roads in which case my poin wouldn't hold. I guess in 30 years time, everyone who has passed their test will be used to it, and maybe driving cars that limit the speed automatically (or do the whole driving) so it will be less of an issue. I live on a main road, and if we don't draw the curtains at night, it can be like having the paparazzi outside with the lights flashing on the camera near us. |

Hard to argue against that, but wasn't Field injury prone or had been out injured for a long-time when we signed him from West Brom and has been pretty good fitness wise almost since he first played for us. I think he's been better than just steady, I think he's been good, and if he gets through the season reasonably injury free, I'd be up for signing him if wages allow. I wouldn't push the boat out, but I'd be happy if we kept him, especially as we lower the age of the squad, we will need some more experienced players. |

I think a push at the playoffs could be possible next season, but I imagine it's a more structured '4 year plan' than our last one. No big bang changes, just incremental improvements each year, selling 'high value' players and replacing. I think the aim is likely to be challenging in 27/28 and if it happens before great, but there should be no relegation type worries. In terms of transfers I think overall he is doing a good job - getting money for players out for Kelman, Sinclair and Frey doesn't feel like we would have got that money previously. Pleased overall with the players coming in - some notable exceptions like Celar - there will be mistakes, but he was an expensive one. I think on paper Stephan is a good appointment - will develop young players, has managed well at a higher level, and in Europe etc. I think we can judge him more at the end of the season, and hopefully more so at the end of next season to see how well it's worked in reality. I don't really care about the secrecy around contract lengths, but clearly lots of people do, so that could be an area to look at. I can't really see it gives us much advantage, all their agents will tell everyone when the contract expires so not sure any supposed gain is worth the backlash. I think general comms have got better, and the last Frey farewell message was very good. Still work to do, but improving after not a great first year. A proper review of the injury list would be good to see how many are due to bad luck eg awkward falls, challenges, vs being too tired, not having the proper fitness regime etc. We know the likes of JCS will forever be out, but it's the Burrell's of this world that are more concerning. We'll alaways have some injuries, but it does feel high now - bad luck or bad planning? I think ultimately, he really didn't help himself at the start over comms, annoyed a lot of people, and is rowing back from that slowly. The less he is talked about, the better we will be doing, so hopefully we won't hear about him too much over the next couple of years. |
 | Forum Reply | Alfie Lloyd recalled at 09:05 17 Jan 2026
I think his pace will help with us press, and other teams will consider him a a threat on the counter which will help us. Hopefully his time at Orient has helped him - suspect he will be used as an impact sub and to give us some extra energy for the last 20-25 minutes of games so Kolli and Bennie don't have to play the full 90 whilst they get match fitness etc. |
 | Forum Reply | Palace at 15:43 16 Jan 2026
I think Glasner leaving is probably their biggest issue, he will be harder to replace. |
 | Forum Reply | Team for Stoke? at 15:40 16 Jan 2026
Fairly horrific injury list when you lay it out like that. I guess you always have some inuries, but when it's this high I wonder how many are preventable, and how many are out of our control? Hard to know if we are Spurs last season loads of injuries, players overworked, bad pitch, cold weather, bad tackles etc and bad conditioning training or a combination of several factors. You'd hope when they injury list is this high some sort of internal review would be happening to see if there is a pattern and to reduce the chance of it happening again. |
 | Forum Reply | Palace at 15:29 16 Jan 2026
18 months left, so taking the money if offered I guess. In fairness they would be right to have confidence they can scout some decent replacements and put themselves in a strong financial position to do so. |
 | Forum Reply | Team for Stoke? at 14:49 16 Jan 2026
I think you are right, but think he will play Morgan instead of Field if not Adamson. |
 | Forum Reply | Team for Stoke? at 14:31 16 Jan 2026
I think we might go: Walsh Adamson Dunne Cook RND Morgan Madsen Hayden Smyth Kone Kolli Subs - Bennie for Kollie, Field for RND, Edwards for Cook. I like Morgan, but don't really like him at RB, I feel he's better further forward and errors giving the ball away less problematic there whilst he is developing. I wouldn't mind starting Kolli on the left and having Bennie up front, if we think Kolli can last the whole game, but that seems a risk at the moment, especially with all our other injuries. Adamson is definitely a risk, but thought he did ok at West Ham and would rather Dunne stayed in the middle - happy to see how he does with a solid back 3 next to him. |
 | Forum Reply | Murphy Cooper at 13:17 16 Jan 2026
Pretty sure they mean Murphy Cooper to Sheff Weds, which would make sense all round, not Hamer. We get to see how he does in the Championship, and he gets some experience. Only downside is that they are so bad so he will conceded lots and lose lots of games, but as said on this thread he will get plenty of practice, and a not too pressurised situation. |
 | Forum Reply | Murphy Cooper at 22:13 14 Jan 2026
Doesn't sound like he was recalled, statement says they used an option to terminate the loan early. Strange one, I thought he was doing well there - maybe they have lined someone up to sign permanently. |
 | Forum Reply | Cat 1. Academy Plans at 11:39 14 Jan 2026
I think this is great news -though obviously we are just applying and the statement says it's not gauranteed we will achieve it. More money for Academy players sold, we will be more attractiive to players deciding between clubs, makes the club look better generally. Doesn't guarentee more players comming through the academy etc, but you'd have to think it should increase the (small) chance of it happenking. We still have to recognise a very very small percentage of Academy players make it, but we are giving ourselves a better chance of that happening. |
