A way to win - report
at 00:44:51

Been waiting for this for more than 48 hours and never in any doubt that you'd deliver the perfect antidote to the dross masquerading as objective match reporting served up in the meantime by numerous hacks such as Patrick Collins and the like. Articulated what that day meant to us long-suffering Rs fans perfectly, beautifully. My only regret about the day is that I couldn't make it back to the C & S to celebrate with you all.

Redknapp and Remy silence the Saints — full match report
at 02:31:54

Park's performance was an interesting one. I was particularly unkind to him on the match thread and thought he was the one who should have been replaced rather than Granero.

Having watched the game again and having had the chance to rewind and reply bits of it I would say that, even before the goal, Park was actually a lot more effective (and Granero a lot poorer) than I'd given him credit for. True he hadn't offered much at all going forward prior to the goal and did have two poor moments, once when he passed the ball into touch and another when he lost his footing and lost possession which Clive alluded to above, but other than that he covered a hell of a lot of ground and won back possession on several occasions.

Basically, watching the game second time around it was like I'd been watching a completely different player the first time around - a classic case of 'confirmation bias' I reckon ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias )

First time I was really annoyed that Harry had picked him and so everything I was watching was simply confirming my belief that he was a completely spent force, running around a lot to absolutely no effect. The times where he put a foot in and won the ball back, or read the play and made good interceptions, really didn't register - but the two errors I mentioned above certainly did.

Of course it was impossible not to notice Park's contribution for the goal, and it really did give him a bit of extra bite and confidence thereafter, but on the rewatch it really struck me that Park had been effective before that and played a key role in a very good defensive away performance that limited Southampton despite all their possession to very few clear cut chances.

I think on that performance he's got a part to play for the remainder of the season, particularly away from home, and that reports of the demise of his engine may have been exaggerated.

Other than that observation, superb report as always Clive.

Redknapp aims to bring the fun times back to Loftus Road - full match preview
at 05:14:31

Pretty sure we won't  need 12 wins to stay up. We're bound to draw at least a quarter of the remaining 24 matches. 6 draws and 9 wins would give us 38 points, which is 1 more than last season and ought to be enough. The following results would get us there:

HOME

Wins 6 - Villa, Wigan, Stoke,  Newcastle, Sunderland, Norwich

Draws 3 - Fulham, West Brom,  Liverpool

Defeats 4 -  Arsenal, Spurs., Man C, Man U

AWAY

Wins 3 - Wigan, Southampton, Reading

Draws 3 - Villa, Fulham, West Ham

Defeats 5 - Newcastle, Swansea, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton

Of course, we'll drop points where we shouldn't and pick up points where we shouldn't but the above results would represent 'par'.

QPR lucky to claim first point from Norwich draw — full match report

Agree with pretty much everything in your report Clive except the mark for Traore, who I thought had a really poor game. Snodgrass took him to the cleaners, especially first half, and his marking for their goal was abysmal.

First time I've watched Rangers in the flesh since we were promoted - Clint Hill and Jamie Mackie were the only surviving players from the last time I attended a Rangers game - and first Prem game I've attended for about 16 years, so was really looking forward to seeing 'Premiership class' players in the flesh.

To say I was disappointed with the quality of passing, and the lack of movement, organization and intensity would be an understatement. I know we have a lot of new players to bed in, but we seem to have gone backwards since the end of last season and at the moment Hughes doesn't seem to know what his best team and formation is.

Clive is spot on I think by highlighting the lack of a spine to the team, and I think the centre of midfield is even bigger problem than the centre of defence at the moment. After yesterday I think it's pretty clear that a central midfield 2 of Park and Diakite is not the answer, even though I rate both players.

That said, the squad is going through a massive transformation at the moment, and while clearly things are not working at the moment, there is plenty of quality in the squad and plenty of time to put things right.

Also wanted to say that I think there is a difference between negativity and panicking on one hand, and simply highlighting and describing poor play and performances on the other. I think there has been a tendency for some on here to lump everybody doing the latter in with those doing the former.

Our captain, the ‘gobby Scouse git’ — guest column
at 00:34:45

Been a bit sick of all the sanctimonious hand-ringing in the media and on here (see Chris King's article last week) so this was a welcome corrective. Nice one Mel. I'll buy your book now;) No, seriously I will.

I think the worst thing Joey did was the kick at Aguero. Wasn't so much the force of it, which wasn't much let's be honest, but the vicious look on his face that just confirmed for those who want to believe it that he's an irredeemably nasty piece of work. The Kompany thing was nothing from what I remember - if he'd really wanted to head butt him I'm sure he would have. I agree he was an idiot but feel he has enough redeeming qualities as a person and as a footballer to persevere with.
