Cardiff didn't look after their asset properly. Crazy letting him go in the equivalent of 1980s Skoda with a part time plumber in charge

The Price Of Football (all read)
at 16:20 5 Feb 2019

Very insightful article. Shows how things have been getting worse and worse over the last few years with the sale to the Americans helping to continue the financial decline.

It seems that to try and stay in the Premier League once Laudrup left we had to pay ever higher transfer fees and ever higher wages to players who warranted neither.

Is Jenkins “resignation” part of a plan
at 14:10 4 Feb 2019

There's been a big black hole in the accounts for years, such that the Swans have been living off their overdrafts and on loans from various banks. For example, when Mawson was sold to Fulham, £10m of the fee wasn't payable immediately. £5m is payable in August 2019 and £5m in August 2020. However, the club took out a loan against those future receipts and so those payments won't come to the club but go to Macquarie Bank (a bank I've never heard of!). Same thing happened with Mesa, Fabianski, Sigurdson and no doubt many more.

It's all on Companies House website for all to see.

With Jenkins gone at last

Because he only retains a minority shareholding. The majority shareholders can simply remove him. Just because he's a shareholder, it doesn't give him the right to sit on the board.

The question is, will Huw sell his remaining shares?

Question about the legality of the club's sale
at 13:26 4 Feb 2019

The sale to the Yanks only went through in July - Levien and Kaplan became directors 21st July.

The trust ultimately couldn't have stopped the sale of shares by Morgan et al, the Trust's only alternative would have been to buy the shares.

Did the Trust insist Laudrup was sacked?
at 22:21 3 Feb 2019

It was a downward spiral after Laudrup got sacked. Monk didn't like the Spanish players he'd brought in and by getting rid of them and changing the style over the next 18 months ended up fighting relegation 3 years on the trot.

Where has the money gone?
at 18:36 3 Feb 2019

Directors are entitled to see the accounts at any time including management accounts. They can ask for any internal company information that they want.

The Trust is a different matter. As an outside party they aren't entitled to see the monthly financial information.

It's down to the Trust's director to analyse the information and provide feedback to the Trust. If he isn't capable of doing that then the Trust need to appoint someone else to the board who can. What he can't do is simply handover the financial information to the Trust.

Where has the money gone?

All directors are entitled to see the accounts. They can demand to see the accounts. They're also there for all to see on companies house. The yanks haven't taken the money, they've simply wasted it with the help of Huw on bad transfer dealings, wages and agents. So much was wasted on players who hardly played before being shipped out such as Baston or players who were never worth the fee such as Clucas.

All down to bad management in my view

Question about the legality of the club's sale
at 15:12 3 Feb 2019

There seems to be a misunderstanding... the club wasn't sold to the Americans. There was a sale of shares by some of the owners. Shares are privately owned and Subject to any private agreements with rights of pre-emption or first refusal, a shareholder can sell to whoever they want. It just so happens that enough shareholders wanted to sell hence the Americans bought 67%

The Trust director is entitled to access all company information. He just needs to ask for it if he's not being given it. They can't refuse to hand it over.
