Let’s assess at the end of the season (it is v early days) but IF the likes of Morgan can’t get at least, say, 20 games in a team in the division below us that perhaps starts to tell you what you need to know, sadly. And it might then be a case of trying to sell some of these players for fairly modest amounts to L1 and L2 clubs. |

The record is horrific, no question. But last season the one clearly “unique” thing we did (as far as I’m aware) was apparently to give players a “soft” pre-season in the hope they would gain peak fitness a bit later, and supposedly be stronger to see out the business end of the season. So much for theories, it was widely ridiculed, clearly unsuccessful and APPARENTLY abandoned. Fans seemed pretty agreed the first few games of this season that our players seemed much fitter than the start of last season - and stats showed they were running more than other teams and looking stronger towards the end of games. So if it IS something we are doing to the players when we get them, what is it? Because it’s nothing obvious to me. I actually wonder if it’s more the type of players we buy. Big guys like Jimmy and Ronnie look extremely resilient. As to maybe a slightly lesser extent do either tall players like Madders or fairly muscular ones like Mbengue. A lot of the injured players are these small, nippy winger and full back types. Maybe they have to be smaller for speed? But perhaps in the Champ you are better off with six foot four brick out houses (so Kember types rather than Lampetys). Obvs it’s not always as simple as that (Kember has also been injured for example) but en masse the Dembele, Saito, Poku type signing hasn’t really worked for us simply because they are not available enough. My hunch (and that’s all it can be) is that this might have more of an impact than anything the physios are doing, but who knows…? |

Can’t really argue with that. But is it the players we sign or what we do to them once we are here? |
 | Forum Thread | Unbeaten away, struggling at home at 12:56 10 Oct 2026
Struggling to assess where we are. We are unbeaten away because that defensive nucleus of Dunne, JCS and Ronnie in front of Prince Charles must be as good as any in the league. Really superb, and in turn protected by Madsen and Kamara who is a revelation in being able to get us up the pitch. Smyth is also an unsung hero at just driving us forward and relieving pressure. If we can get draws at the likes of WH and WBA with the occasional 3 points away at teams we get on the break that is more than good enough in terms of away form. But I honestly don’t know where we will pick up enough wins if we can’t beat those “lesser” teams at home when we have more than 50% possession. Will enough goals come at home? We are creating chances but maybe our strikers just not clinical enough? Can Madsen recapture a bit of that sparkle from last season and really boss a game? If Chair comes back and Poku continues to grow, might we be OK? At around the 10 game mark am cautiously optimistic, even excited, but I can’t honestly predict where we finish with even vague accuracy. |

Last night I felt much like you about the subs but having slept on it not sure Stéphan made obviously bad calls in real time. With the injuries he had, there were just so few options and some players were out on their feet. Mbengue and Kone are usually starters so he should be able to rely on them. Lamptey has looked a class above previously but wasn’t right last night even before his injury. If fit he will prob come into his own in home matches where we want to take it to the opposition. Kember best player on the pitch until he went off. |
 | Forum Reply | Blowing Bubbles Up The R's Match Thread at 22:27 9 Oct 2026
Kember the beast going off changed the game. Even before he got injured Lampty didn’t look fit. But Charles, Dunne, JCS and Ronnie restricted them to only a few shots all game which is an incredible achievement away to West Ham. Kamara faded second half but first half it was a joy to have a midfielder able to turn with the ball. Hopefully Kolli will learn from that and how he needs to work to hold the ball up, but obvs incredibly hard when you are isolated against 3 West Ham players probably worth as much as our stadium. |
 | Forum Reply | Do We Know the Injured Players That Might Be Back for West Ham? at 14:23 8 Oct 2026
Its looking a bit bleak for West Ham, particularly up front. I'm guessing its going to have to be something like: Charles Lampety* Dunne JCS Adamson** Madsen Edwards*** Poku Vale Smyth**** Lloyd *Replaced by Mbenge at half time/ 60 mins or vice versa ** Maybe replaced by Kember after 60 mins *** Assuming Kamara banned **** Maybe Koki will be challenging Smyth but Smyth earned a start and better centrally IMHO. |
 | Forum Reply | Julien Stéphan Interview at 13:41 7 Oct 2026
Well done for getting the interview and bringing us this Clive. I suspect you would like to have followed-up a few questions but appreciate there was no doubt a strict time limit and much to get through. Encouraging injuries to Burrell and Kone not as bad as some doomsday suggestions. He talks quite obliquely (partly its language I guess, although his English is now much improved). What I took from this (but might be misreading stuff): 1) He isn't too concerned about not being able to win games with more than half the possession. He is more interested in getting lots of intense/ attacking "big moments" when we might score. And also, it's a work in progress - so we have also tightened up the defence and can't do everything at once. He has a point, but personally I still think this is a big problem if it means we will struggle to win a lot of home games against poor sides (which should be our "bankers"). 2) He gets that the game has changed. But fundamentally he remains a purist and wants us to play a (more basic version) of Spain's game than rush into doing what the likes of City have done. Oddly tho that doesn't seem to quite line up with what we are actually doing? 3) "Standards" (however defined) are his big benchmark. Seemed pretty clear on this one: Kone although struggling tries to hit those standards, Kolli hasn't done consistently enough (though some encouraging signs the last fortnight). 4) He is not boxing himself in to setting any meaningful targets he can actually be judged against, ie a specific league position. In this he is like most managers, not wanting to put pressure on himself or players. 5) Doesn't seem massively confident about the next run of games, but is probably sensible asking us to look to the horizon and not get too wound up by any individual losses. 6) Denies there is a specifically "QPR" aspect to our injuries - other than signing a few players who lacked proper pre-season. Jury probably still out on this one. [Post edited 7 Oct 13:43]

I have been agreeing with you about wanting Kolli in the team. But not sure we can make these kind of assumptions from the stands. |
 | Forum Reply | Kone knee injury - Not ACL, but serious at 20:34 6 Oct 2026
Not really the club's fault if he was scythed down in a dev game, surely? Presumably he was given the same pre-season as other players who have been able to play to full fitness? I think most of us would agree he didn't look match fit when playing (tho presumably not injured). Taking him out of the firing line (in the face of booing, which is not something many of our players experience these days) and trying to build up his fitness/ sharpness with the kids seemed sensible. Maybe the club did mismanage something. But no evidence of that. Sometimes just unlucky stuff happens, its not always necessary to seek a culprit (beyond the idiot who put in a completely over the top challenge). |

Interesting debate. I care more about results but also agree the club - like any business, and any individual - should try to do things the right way too, wherever possible. Perhaps then the question about Furlong was not about his sacking, but how it was done. If it was done without proper acknowledgement or gratitude for his years of service then indeed that would be shabby. Although we have disagreed in the past on Nourry's performance I have also conceded that up until the recent fans forum his manner could, at times, be unfortunate (the previous fans forum being a case in point). I know there have been claims of Nourry using a PR to post positive things about him and also that there can be an unpleasant rancour sometimes around QPR debates. But it is not all down to Nourry. I suspect even someone as self-confident as our CEO would consider it beyond him to get QPR cyber-warriors to rein it in. We have a very diverse fanbase (in terms of attitudes, age and background, less so ethnically for example). I think the anger from different types of fans to each other is sadly, as I suggested above, a symptom of a much bigger social problem. There might be young men (and it is mainly men) who think the academy is wonderful and will soon be producing the next Jude Bellingham. We need that belief among younger fans (tho' no excuse for the abuse apparently directed at Kevin or Dave). Of course older fans who have lived through countless false dawns will be more jaded. For balance, over the years I have also witnessed plenty of older fans in the ground behaving abusively or in a way that doesn't exactly leave you bursting with pride about the club. I think many of us are actually in broad agreement about the youth set up: plenty of encouraging signs pointing to improvement down the line, but with a huge amount to prove over the coming years. Alas the kind of balanced debate we have seen on this thread wouldn't get many re-tweets on X. |

The vitriol, extreme opinions and over-simplification are a much bigger problem than QPR, of course. Am sure every club has similar issues, and it goes way beyond football. But agree, it's a massive turn-off and just plain unpleasant for those of us who tend to view things in shades of grey, and still believe in friendly debate. It''s often rage-bating and I avoid X accordingly, but there is little escape from the madness. I found myself fuming at a Tucker Carson podcast at the weekend when he basically said we should have let Hitler get on with it - before I reminded myself that enraging swathes of the population is precisely his goal. And social media is bursting with such characters. Re whether the academy is now delivering: surely the problem in judging is that unlike a first team manager whose reputation rests on his last five games these days, any good work (or indeed bad work) takes years to assess at youth level? By which point key coaches could have moved on etc. I have no inside knowledge on Paul Furlong and for all I know he was working miracles with tiny resource and maybe his departure was handled appallingly. But he was apparently part of the club's coaching set up for 14 years. If you believe that the youth set up has underachieved over a long period, perhaps change was needed? I am not claiming this is the case with you - as I say, I don't know enough about his circumstances - but as a fanbase we can sometimes judge former players more softly than we do others. |

Only a QPR fan could complain that the club got a good price for a peripheral player not deemed good enough. What on earth is the problem? |

Is this confirmed? Bloody disaster if so |
 | Forum Reply | Devs v Swansea at 22:39 28 Sep 2026
Some much needed positive news - with so many injuries- that Kolli is working hard, seemingly motivated and scoring. Hopefully the message has got thru and hopefully, in turn, he will be given another chance. |

What if we played JCS and he broke down again? Jimmy has been a trojan for us for a few years now. When he first joined us he did make some howlers but very, very rare these days. Jimmy’s value is more than just as a player - almost everyone else is a bit quiet, we need him in the mix; he is the heart of QPR. Won us a hell of a lot more points than he has cost us JCS a fine talent but his minutes need managing and we can’t judge that from our armchairs |
 | Forum Reply | Kealey Adamson at 22:45 19 Sep 2026
Definitely deserves credit, especially when player left back when he is meant to be a right back! Also some credit to the rest of the defence. Last season we were a bit of a mess at the back, but probably coming in to a much more assured back line must have helped. |
 | Forum Reply | Whats it all about Alfie? at 22:34 19 Sep 2026
No one should enjoy a "pile on" on Alfie. He is pretty well universally popular. He is a player we would all love to succeed. And I absolutely got what Jimmy said about him at the forum. Most of us acknowledge he has great energy. And I give him great credit today for despite not being on the pitch long, he got himself into two excellent positions (arguably more than Burrell did who was on for much longer). But I read a post in the match thread along the lines of "the goals will come for Alfie". Others have suggested similar here. But what is that based on? He has now played 70 senior games and has three goals. Tbf a lot of those were as sub, but a lot were also at an easier level than the Championship. That means when he plays, there is just over a 4% chance that he will score. If he plays a lot up front, just leaving aside what a nice lad he is, how hard he tries etc etc, is that really going to help you into the play offs? Maybe it was just bad luck (again), maybe he does just need one goal and it will click. Honestly, I would be delighted to have this post shoved in my face. Final point: it's definitely a sign of progress how much more supportive the QPR fanbase is of struggling players than when I was a teenager. Times changing for the better. But surely on a message board you can debate a player's performance, as long as it's respectful - and that's all that's going on here as far as I can see... |
