Not so long ago, we almost let a 4-0 lead slip. Vesty header 2 x JWP free kicks Ings from 20 yards Away to Villa Villa fought back to 4-3 but we held on !! Grealish definitely scored 1 of theirs |

That was fantastic Wild scenes for the winner and at full time. We weren't in the game at all 1st half and Liverpool also had a goal chalked off I think. Maybe for off side or blocking the keeper's view ? Then it was the Pelle and Mane show and the latter even missed a pen. Also I remember this game for the MOTD TV coverage, where you could see a kid in the crowd sticking his middle finger up at Sturridge after he scored at the Chapel end and his Dad telling him off and pushing his hand down. My early teens daughter found this hilarious !! |

Larin looks unfit and can't do anywhere near 90 Stewart is fragile and apparently could only do a half D Downs has been loaned Arma sold In the circumstances it was Archer, the youngster who came on at Stoke, or perhaps the new 17 year old signing from Stoke - or recall BBD ? I'm not really a fan of Archer, but last night it was needs must until the changes could be made - for reasons already stated. I know he doesn't offer much as an outlet, or for bringing others into play, but being 3-0 down at HT wasn't all down to Archer. Awful defending, a back pass gift and 3 shots on target - 3 goals conceded spring to mind !! Anyway, it was all part of the master plan and the subs once ready to come on. all played their parts in overseeing the operation. Double done ✅ Shame Vesty wasn't playing 😊 Shame they only got a 6 point deduction Expect they have enough to avoid the drop - hopefully at the Skates expense |

If he hadn't missed that sitter early doors, it could have been a different game and people may have had a different opinion of him. In hindsight and for our result, it was a good miss !! :-) |

This is only one of the many shambolic performances we've had against Leicester. Missed a sitter Poor keeping Gift Poor defending 3 shots on target and 3 goals conceded I had to check to see if Baz was back in goal !! :-) |

Don't forget that we lost 2 'Strikers' this window - with D Downs going to Hamburg on loan. (Yes not much of a striker, but was still 'an option'). That means that Larin is replacing both Arma and Downs for the next 4 months. I'm sure the club are making massive savings on wages, so hopefully the newbie hits the ground running and can notch a few times. I think he will need to train quite hard before getting pitch time, as wearing that baggy yellow training top doesn't hide the extra ballast he is carrying that well !! :-) |

It could well have been Sound Affects by The Jam and it is still in my loft !! I also remember taping / recording The Clash, Joy Division and Blondie around the same time and wanting to play them in my parents' car, but they were having none of it, preferring Supertramp’s - Breakfast in America !! |

They seem to have gotten away with an awful lot..... Punching the Police horse Fan punching that Sunderland player a few seasons back Throwing a firework into the Sunderland fans at Stadium of Light Countless spitting at players Countless coin / object throwing incidents Flashbang / fireworks Something really needs to be done about it - this season !! |

I think my first 45 was Rat Trap by Boomtown Rats 33 - no idea. At the time, I was more of a cassette man, as I could play them in my bedroom, as opposed to the record player in the lounge !! |
 | Forum Reply | So what do we think about Peretz? at 13:42 2 Feb 2026
As a team, we have a massive issue with defending corners. I thought with a new Keeper, things may change, but alas, so far, no. The new Keeper is still part of this issue, with often poor positioning and not being able to command his 6 yard box. When I saw the error against Doncaster in the FA Cup, the free header against Hull that he came for and missed and perhaps the scrambled hand of cod against the Skates, I have at times wondered why we signed him. To be fair though, he is slowly getting used to working in our team and certainly seems to organise the defence a bit more than past keepers and he has pulled off some top saves. Baz has 3 top saves this season that spring to mind (others may remember more) - Wrexham and Millwall H + A. Peretz has 2 so far, both v Stoke Let's see what happens between now and the end of the season, but for me so far, he is slightly ahead of Baz, but I expect him to move further ahead as the season progresses. |

First away league clean sheet in absolutely ages - last one was Fulham away in the Prem last season by all accounts !! We bossed it today and fully deserved the win. Stoke were awful, but we didn't let them play, so credit goes to us. There were still the same mistakes, mis-passes and needlessly giving the ball away, but we weren't punished today and when we did give it away, there was extra effort to get the ball back - which has been missing of late. The only worrying thing was that I don't think we had a single shot, once Leo and Stewart went off. The youngster up front look a little lost when he came on, but understandable I guess. He will need to improve if Arch and Arma are sold and we don't get a replacement in. A decent turn out of around 2.4k which is great for a game that distance and an early kick off and it was great to hear the constant singing - unlike the Stoke fans. (See what a decent performance can do to the fans !!) We are Southampton, We sing on our own !! |

He's been injured for ages, so I can only presume he is not being rushed back. Unlike Aribo and a few others, He still has 18 months left on his contract I believe. It looks distinctly like we are spending months and months and thousands and thousands on getting him back up to match fitness in time to show him the door / sell him on / loan him out, like we have done with so many others over the years. |

Read social media - There is plenty about the flash bang, your lot throwing it and the resulting affects. Seems you've got previous in this area, having thrown a firework into the Sunderland fans at the Stadium of Light. Hopefully the FA will take that into account when deciding the punishment. As for the toilets, Westwood surpasses everything. At an England match at St Marys, he was arrested for exposing himself in public and for peeing over seats. WAC. |

I think there is potentially an issue or a weakness there, which would explain (much to many fans' disgust) why he often gets subbed around the 60-70 minute mark. Best to have him for an hour, than to not have him at all. A few others need to start stepping up though !! |

Arma has missed a couple of penalties as well Sheff Utd away didn't affect the result Norwich away did though. Goals change games - Score first and the game is completely different. Perhaps he should start using his hands or arms to score with. We've had a few dodgy ones against us, costing us points, so as things are supposed to even themselves out over the course of the season..... Norwich away - winner was hand ball Pompey away - equaliser was 'Hand Of Cod' !! |

Our finishing has been piss poor of late - with pretty much everyone being guilty. Arma is expected to score more than Leo, as he is a striker and will get more chances, but Leo isn't that prolific. Even if we look at the Sheffield United game, Leo should have done much better with a couple of shots that weren't even on target and that free header in the 2nd half was a guilt edged chance that he some how put straight at the keeper. Luckily his goal got a crucial deflection !! Fellows needs a goal big time. He cuts inside and hits it with his left foot so often, you'd think one would go in, but no, everything is usually high and wide and rarely tests the keeper. He had 4 or 5 good chances v Sheff Utd. Azaz was on that 6 goals and some assists in 7 appearances, or whatever it was, but his form has dried up, yet still manages to get 80 minutes every game before he is eventually subbed. Hopefully things improve at Stoke on Saturday. |
