Ipswich Town v Swansea City : Match day thread

Add to that our most influential player is constantly played out of position. It really does beggar belief. Are we doing it deliberately to keep Galbraith out of the limelight and the shop window.

I would take dominating the midfield as opposed to overloading it any day of the week. I suspect like Sheehan, he is trying to please certain players instead of picking his best 11 and sticking to it.

I was hoping after Matos saw the positive impact Galbraith had on our midfield in the 2nd half on Tuesday night, that he would start him there today and every game.
Can he really afford not to play our most influential midfielder in his default position.
The defense currently is pretty poor, so playing Key in there, wouldn't make a lot of difference. Its obvious to me that our two centre halfs cannot play together. Not sure which one needs a rest and try a plan B. Tymon is now out of sorts as well, so please please, let Galbraith run the midfield like he did on Tuesday.

Well the other 2 starters alongside him have done nothing all game. Totally agree Widdel needs to be starting instead of either of thisec2 duds.

Once again we start with 3 ineffective offensive players. All 3 are massively out of form and have no end product. Perhaps a journo could ask the gaffer, how on earth does he expect to win games, with those 3 in the same starting line up. These baffling decisions week on week are costing us dearly.

Southampton v Swansea City : Match day thread (UPDATED)
at 13:36 18 Oct 2025

Unfortunately- Key has a poor game most weeks and its obvious is being targeted by opposition. Ronald too doesn't do enough to warrant a start every week. Stemanic looks nothing like the player we saw in his first few appearances. This team currently is way off the pace in terms of a play off place. Sheehan needs to do something about continuing with his favorites, who are massively out of form.

In fairness to VIP. He didn't get a regular start week in week out for at least 10 games, to judge him fairly. It cant help his confidence or form to be in one week and on the bench the next.
Remember Gyorekes- couldn't hit a barn door. Everyone calling him a dud including me !!!!

Copied from Gills forum:-

If I was a Swansea fan, I wouldn’t get too excited about that match.
Jesus, they are boring.
Possession for possession sake isn’t football.
Felt sorry for their centre forward

That is exactly spot on, we have a keeper that has lost all confidence, and tonight paired him with two rookie centre halves that have not played together in that combination all season., and what do we end up with, a shit team that can't win for love or money, they have 4 efforts on goal and score 4 times.
Im sorry but Mr. Cooper empty your desk now.

I get it- Sky are screening it from the point of view of "my owner is worse than yours" perspective.
Might catch on I suppose.
May be the build up will include a list of disasters and lies that have occured since respective owners have taken charge. I bet we'll easily beat them in a straightforward players sold v money re-invested comparison.
Wouldn't it be great if Sky could organise an owners debate (bit like the general election) before ko where both owners are subjected to questions from a selected audience of fans.

Cooper Out
at 07:35 13 Feb 2020

Absolutely spot on. I wouldn't wait until the summer though. To me it's become clear after Tuesday night, he's lost the dressing room now as well as the fans.
Time for Curt and Leon to take interim control. But the long term solution isn't straightforward either, as the clueless Cooper is only half the problem, the other half being the clueless owners as any decent manager worth their salt will not come anywhere near us now, as they know there is no money, any promising players will be sold, and unfortunately we are only able to attract Young unproven Managers desperate for a chance or in Coopers case a Youth team coach, and that gamble hasn't worked out.

Surely if he refuses to see the obvious, then poor performances will continue along with the bore draws and home defeats. Players look obviously lost out on the pitch, our identity has now disappeared and turning up to watch the Swans has become pot -luck in terms of what's going to happen on the pitch. If he doesn't listen and change his ways, then losing both the fans and the players is only going to end one way.

Or appointing a Manager who turns out to be a youth team coach, who unfortunately is severely lacking at this level.

500 Million Development in Cardiff bay
at 07:52 30 Jan 2020

I've never forgiven Welsh Labour and in particular Ron the badger Davies for giving Cardiff the WAG, when the cost effective and compelling case was Swansea. It was certainly a lost opportunity to begin to spread wealth outside of Cardiff and the SE. But in all reality since that decision, its just accelerated the growth of Cardiff.
My only worry with the Torries is that they tend to favour big business and the establishment, and both are doing very nicely down in Corruption Bay at the moment, and probably wouldn't want to rock the boat.

Bigger than Barcelona. They have West Brom as their feeder club.
at 00:28 12 Jan 2020

Of course i nearly remember that. What year was that again.
Thats why their bigger than Barca because they almost beat Real Madrid, does anybody remember that. Well I can certainly remember beating Valencia at the Mestalla, i know cos I was there, wasnt all that long ago as I recall, certainly in living memory, just after we won that trophy at Wembley, knocking out Liverpool on the way and beating Chelsea over two legs in the semi, in fact it was almost like it happened yesterday. Didnt we almost beat Napoli over two legs after Valencia, of course we did, I know cos I was there. Good job it wasnt back in 192? otherwise I'd never have remembered.

Fuk me- Im only 59 , and I can`t recall our capital ever achieving anything in my lifetime on the footballing stage. If only I was born 50 years earlier, I could have celebrated their only cup win.
Still it must be so comforting for them to know that they are bigger than Barcelona.
