Which would be another hit to the revenue streams of L1/L2 clubs.
Morecambe drew a massive 2,231 for their last midweek game in National League
Accrington 659 for Port Vale on a Tuesday.
It's peanuts but 659 at £20 (about £1400) must be close to a weeks wages for a L2 Squad |

Facing Merv Hughes; Merv got him playing and missing at 3 consecutive balls
After the 3rd Merv, in his own inimitable fashion; i.e. plenty of swearing, opined that this Pommie A***wipe couldn't f***ing bat.
Needless to say the next ball Smith hit him for 4 and retorted

Presumably Morgan and the recently signed Adamson are inadequate as reserve RBs?
If we can get Edwards on the cheap it's worth having a punt. From what we saw last season, he looks a better footballer than Cook, Dunne and Mbengue.
Otherwise, somebody to replace Frey, (6 months early(?) should be our only January purchase.
This squad is good enough, already, with consistency, to be top half |

The DS can include Smith, Akindeleni, Wilkie and McDermott, without dropping down to U18s. Add in Morrison who gets left out of the match day squad.
Are any of them capable of stepping up to First Team?
Smith could be listing for a month. |

I do think that we fans have underestimated the effect of the travelling. Back to LR in the early hours of Thursday after a 400 mile round trip. Back up to Norfolk for another 125. It takes it out of most of us, and we're not expected to perform at high level for 90+ minutes.
With hindsight; its easy to say JS should have made changes. |

You've addressed the LB situation perfectly. RND is in as cover because Larkeche, who was going to be 1st choice, blew his ACL. Esquerdinha clearly has the talent, but is still raw. There's no reason why the combination of Larkeche and Esquerdinha can't be resurrected. RND is steady but he is a 6/10 regular. Remember Jake Bidwell?
The keeper situation needs to be resolved, ASAP. Walsh was going to be no 1 and may still come good. The 2 results where he conceded 6 and 7 were, IMHO, freak results. Little Walsh could have done. Nardi is a good shot stopper but a nightmare on crosses. That affects the rest of the defense. Besides which, the club have made clear he stays on sufferance. Hamer, hasn't done badly but is at the end of his career.
If we're recruiting in January, I struggle to see where we find any improvement over what we already have. |

Can L1/L2 clubs afford to.lose the revenue from 4 home games per season.. it's not like the PL where spectators are trivial part of total revenue. |

OK, given the signings we made in the Summer, we should be better than last year. And, in a league with so few really good teams, we're capable of doing so. Unfortunately; we have too many flaws, as well. |

Fundamentally, we are a bottom half team. If the Gods all align we may make the top half, but playoff contenders never.
That first half performance from us was as poor as it gets. He could have replaced any of the 5 midfielders at HT. 28% possession is all the evidence needed.
2nd half was better, although we created very little. |

It's not just a defensive issue, apart from the usual hesitancy from Nardi.
But JS could change all 5 of the midfield based on their 1st half contribution.
Not sure Field will come out either as he's had a couple of bad looking knocks. |

Reading the previews they are in a mess. Lack of pace, especially in defense whereas we have pace to burn. In Burrell, Smyth, Saito and Dembele.
However, can we win game 3 of a 3 game week? The players will have done nearly 500 miles by KO time and that may be the biggest factor. They wouldn't have got back until the early hours of Thursday and then up to Norwich Friday. Certainly near zero time for training.
Clive pointed out several potential pitfalls. The only sequence I want to see broken is our dreadful record at Carrow Road.
