So proud
at 10:23 19 Feb 2018

Besides the usual manager, players, chairman, I think we must give a huge credit to the Dale backroom team for preparing the squad for this match. I can't remember a Dale side playing with such intense energy levels for the whole match in all my 60 years as a supporter. Not once did a Dale player give up on a chance to attack and defend to great effect. Fitness levels were fantastic and all the more impressive when measured against the Spurs side. "backroom blinders". Thanks.

Special Atmoshere
at 12:28 19 Mar 2017

What a great match and atmoshere yesterday.
I guess Gillingham played a part by providing an open attack minded opposition that allowed Dale to get at them the whole match.
As ML strutted (at a tempo not seen often enough) his stuff and just went for it- his opener was brilliant, to set off the players message to Joe T that it was for him. We all joined in of course and added another sincere round of applause on the 15th minute.
The Sandy was expectant but apprehensive as they hit back scoring a goal that had an element of luck about it but it raised their pace and Dale had to fight hard.
Players raised their game with special mention for Joe Bunney making a welcome return after ages on the sidelines, Matty Lund who might have been expected to be taking it a little easy before his N Irish matches this week but put in a great shift, Calvin made himself a right niusance as usual, Mcgahey is enjoying scampering up and down the wing like a proper winger which he probably admits he is not,Hendo, well is just hendo with class written all over his goal, Camps was rewarded for tireless running and breaking up any threats, how good to see a cameo from peter Vincenti with a coolly taken goal at the end.
The Sandy just wallowed in relief at that performance which was so long in coming.
A special day all round.

A couple of positives
at 11:21 29 Jan 2017

Having trawed through many negatives on yesterday it's important to look into one or to positives.
I was really impressed with Jamie Allens contibution yesterday, it was his best game since returning from injury following which he couldn't get into a winning side. He is deffo getting his speed and controlled aggression back. Considering the lack of familiarity with his teamates the performances of Kitchen and later Redshaw showed positive signs for the future in the face of a serious loss of very very influencial players.
Peter Vincenty has taken almost as much stick as Conrad Logan for missing the target with a header. This is unwarranted as he cannot yet be fully match fit following a long lay off yet he covered acres of ground, was the only target man following Calvins departure and also showed his ability to link play down the left in contrast to the other flank where we continue to look vulnerable.
Up to half time we outplayed and outfought Hudd, but some credit to them they never cracked and stuck to their plan which payed off in the end.
I only hope dale fans stick by the club till we get through this difficult period.

I don't agree that Oxford beat us in our ability to defend in central defence. We were muscled out in midfield as our much smaller players were pulled, pushed, kicked and held without any referee protecton.

One player to come out with credit was jim Mc's partner Harrison McGahey. He did hold his own and today did a decent job in replacing KK.

Scott had his chance today and blew it in the first half with some basic errors.

Redshaw back on loan.
at 17:07 20 Jan 2017

I am sure there will be mixed feelings/comments about this move - but he has a scoring pedigree and gave us a few glimses of his aggressive ability in pursuit of the net a few years ago with Morecambe.
Since those days he rather lost his way in sides that struggled.
Be sure dales staff will have noticed many things we punters miss. His time with Dale last time was disappointing but 2nd time round he is joining a better side that will compliment his poaching style.
I think he will rise to the chance, a chance he may have thought was never going to appear again.
I for one wish him well and will encourage fans to get behind him and give him a chance - he may well prove to be yet another Hill inspired success.

Huddersfield at home
at 10:03 10 Jan 2017

Really looking forward to what will be a test and a half for our side who are beginning to think of play offs. Hudd will fill their side of the ground and add to what hopefully will be a 5,000 plus home crowd.
Barrow was a good experience all round for those who went and for the young side - this is another one that Hill and co will relish. I fancy a draw and a money spinning return in Yorkshire.
To those looking at this tie as a bad draw - look wider and it's not at all bad.

BFSC says thanks
at 12:13 8 Jan 2017

Thanks Cuffy. As a Dale fan who could not get a Dale ticket I had to resort to buying a home spot to see the match then keep a fairly low profile. What was impressive was the reading of the tactics and respect for both sides in what was never going to be a game for the purist. dale had to be strong (possibly stronger than normal) in the face of Barrows airial and long ball style, but many fans around me could see that. Believe me dale were made to fight every inch of the way and could well have put Barrow to the sword if they had tried to match the midfielf route to goal.
It was a pleasure to see and hear the fans of Barrow getting behing their side and lets hope Cox can guide the side to a re-entry to the league soon.

Lets just be happy we are in the 4th round - but not take our eye off the league and the momentum being created - who knows we could enjoy a cup final every week next season?

Friday 5pm already... Keane signs
at 09:59 4 Jan 2017

Oh happy day! Keano is the key to the change in fortunes in defence. W"e are now so hard to beat. Composure on the ball, excellent relationship with Raffa, vision to find a blue shirt which is rare at our level. He is obviously happy judging by the appreciation of the staff, gaffer and very nice comments about the fans - just goes to show how we can play a part in a players performance when its positive.

Special times for dale indeed.

I hope Hilly has a plan with this selection. We are not so mobile at the back today but he has surprised us many times with selections this season I hope my fears are unvalid.

The Draw
at 15:08 7 Dec 2016

Blue ---Glad to note that the pitch has improved since the days we used to meet the Blues in the league. I agree Dales pitch was not up to flowing football in those days. Saw some tasty games in those days. One easter match at spotland when Barrow were chasing promotion and they were and still are the "hardest" side I ever saw. At the end of that match there was a mass invasion which included my dad I might add, as Dale fans were so incensed with the rough tactics. I think it was a 0 - 0 draw. The Barrow players ran for their lives down the tunnel.
Judging by the clips of their match with Bristol Rovers there is a fine contest in prospect and I can't wait.

The Draw
at 08:35 6 Dec 2016

This tie is similar to last saturday with both sides form Cumbria riding high in leagues below Dale.
I live 20min from Barrow and believe me they fancy their chances following their progress so far.
Will be great test for our younger less experienced player where they have to cope with a small but packed ground, iffy pitch and hungry opposition.
Get your ticket and enjoy being the favourite for once.

Really looking forward to this match with a lot to play for and Carlisle rapidly becoming the side of the season in Div 2. I was very impressed with Keith Curles match notes on their web site, he obviously is out to win this game and with a few old friends on both sides, a good weather forecast, a good crowd from Dale "up for the cup".
We need to be tight at the back and we can win this, but this is asking a lot with our injury situation.

Punishment for administration
at 10:02 30 Nov 2016

It strikes me that the measures currently in place do little in terms of prevention. Liquidation is announced then the punishment is agreed and that does nothing but harm to a club already in deep trouble -in fact it compounds the position.
Surely the FA administrators can come up with an early warning mechanism which relies on them being able to see the books regularly and then get into early discussions about preventing liquidation.
We are all cheesed off with stupid club owners who stretch beyond their means in persuit of glory, this is the root of most financial problems and yet the warning signs appear early enough for the league authorities to act. Finally, the role of supporters trusts should be strengthened so they are empowered to act as custodians of the clubs long term survival and interest. in many countries the works council is chaired by an employee who is legally entitled to stop any director from making a decision which might harm the long term interests of the business - the model exists and is successful.
