I can see elements to that. I think he offers us genuine pace in the position and being able to overlap to take defenders away or to cross has it's benefits. Hopefully his crossing will improve. I just feel that sometimes he lacks maturity in his play. The amount of times I have seen Dunne or Cook to tell him to calm down and focus. The aspect that really gets me is when he tries to do too much, gets caught out then acts like he has been poleaxed when tackled hoping to get a free kick or stop playing. Rather than just get back in position. I do however think there is the potential to be a good right back in there and crossing apart, on his day he has been out best option and right back for some time. Dunne was good but but had his limitations. Mbengue when on it has marked out the game some of the league better wingers this season |

You can be fit to come on if needed but it's a different level to being fit to start and expected to play the whole game. |

Because of his red card or his form? |

Thanks for that. I have used it before but then sometimes there are huge gaps in threads that I am interested in, especially if someone is starting to dominate the thread. However, 9 times of out 10 based on the replies you can imagine what was being said lol |

Thanks for the clarification, Clive. I apologise for any part I might have played in recent events. Just feel people should be held accountable when they speak to people like crap, although I know I should just shut up |

Sooo, if he isn't the right man for the job, in your opinion who do you think is based on the way the club wants to operate, as in having a head coach and not a manager? |
 | Forum Reply | Julien speaks at 13:27 26 Jan 2026
I think there are a number of reasons he isn't playing. Firstly fitness. He won't be match fit so ease him in. Also the manager will want to have a look at him in training. Understand what he is good at. How he can utilise him and patterns of play based on that. Most importantly, until Saturday. The defence looked solid. You don't change it for the sake of it. That's doesn't send a good message to a player, if they have been doing well and someone new comes in and goes straight into the team. Now obviously, if he is the Ronnie Edwards we have previously, it's a no brainer that he gets in the team, but you just have to play the waiting game for the right moment. That might be injury, suspension (likely with Mbengue) or drop in form. I think he will play this week now and Dunne might go to right back. When Mbengue comes back, if Edwards plays well, you then have a reason to maybe drop Cook. Dunne is better at CB now so Mbengue comes in and Edwards will hopefully show that is better on the ball than Cook. Cook has been great recently, but I also thought it was quite noticeable the number of times on Saturday and the previous game how he just hacked the ball clear, when he had a bit of time and that meant we were just defending another attack. Edwards might actually be able to move forward into midfield, draw players in and create space for others |

Noticed a couple I think have disappeared. Can't seem to find the one about Eddie Howe and resources that Staindrod's Elbow started. Don't think I have a filter on. Sure there is another one but can't think what it is |

Playing with more ball playing players and we look better for it. Also Kone looking better being the focal point and closer to goal. Dropping back to find space rather than starting deeper |

Very much worth a punt, as he has pace and hopefully some physicality about him. Stuff we need and pleasing to see that this now appears to be part of the player profile we are looking at after our days off trying to get tippy tappy players in. It is scripted (pretty much like the pre and post-match interviews.....) but I think you can still learn a bit by how the player engages with the interviewer and how he says the words |

Kone will come good. Adapting to the league and not able to boss defenders like he did in league 1. The team don't really play to his strengths. He needs be in and around the box more |

I do think he could attempt to do more but I also think the players could give him more options when he is on the ball. We can see he has the passing ability but maybe he won't force a pass if he doesn't think it is on. I have seen a number of times when he has 'played it safe' he gestures to the person who he wanted to get the ball for not getting in good position. |

He said he sounds like him, not implying that he is. Don't twist other people's words to try and fit your narrative. There's a good lad |

Heaven forbid the guy who writes the great and detailed reports takes notes. I bet if he didn't and they were inaccurate, the same person would be moaning about that with some witty retort, only they find funny. So desperate to be noticed, they don't even make sense now [Post edited 21 Jan 11:53]

I said on another post that I think Edwards and Madsen would be a good partnership, whilst Cook and Dunne are doing well at the back. At the same time though, I think we would gain something with having Edwards at the back and breaking the first line of the press. Dunne tries to do it and sometimes it works but a lot of the time, he twists and turns on himself and either punts it clear or passes it back We need some of our players back. They are all pieces to the puzzle and when so many are missing or looking knackered it changes the picture. Kone doesn't look the same player at the moment. Looks heavy legged. First season in the highest league to date he has played in, probably not use to the speed and tempo. He will adjust but with the new striker, maybe give Kone a rest. Kolli or Bennie along side would work. |
