Thanks Clive - Covered everything about this rotten result perfectly.
We all dropped our levels of intensity thinking we were going to get a straightforward win. I include us the crowd in that as the whole atmosphere seemed flat which I guess transpired to the team.
After 50 years of going to “Loftus” I should know and expect Saturday’s result but it still grates me everytime.
I think so too - The club is heading in the right direction. Of course he is not going to get everything right but I believe he has put us on the right track.
I think with Arsenal still fighting on four fronts he will continue to get plenty of game time. They seem to be playing him centrally which may be the problem of getting on the ball in congested areas.
His best work for Palace was on the left where he could get more space and time to pick passes and cut in.
Whatever happens from here on in he will always be a legend in W12 for signing that contract.
Thanks Clive great read - It has been a very good and sensible window for us and continues the good work over the past two years. Massive thanks again need to go to our old mate Eberechi Eze - His legacy continues with the signing of Rolls Royce Ronnie. Not seen anything but I wonder if we also got a loan fee for Morrison?
Clubs actually want our players now - It wasn't so long ago we were paying them to leave.
Not going tonight but safe travels to all those heading across town - I am sure the pubs in London Bridge will be nice and lively from 4.00pm onwards.
And here it is another masterpiece from our mentor - Thank you Clive we have been waiting for that since 5.00pm Saturday - "Can't wait for Clives report" was the general consensus of a full car heading back up the A40 Saturday evening.
It really is incredible how this bloody football club can take you to the depths of despair one weekend then to the top of the world seven days later. After 50 years of going to Loftus Road I should be used to it by now but it never fails to surprise me how a simple game of football can affect my general wellbeing.
Just sit back and enjoy the ride I keep telling myself........
Wasn't Loftus Road a great place to be at 4.55pm Saturday - Bloody Marvellous!!
Whilst it would be a Fairytale, Roy of the Rovers kind of thing - Going full circle back to your roots playing for peanuts etc.....I'm not so sure it would be the right thing. Could it upset the dressing room which does seem the best it has been for ages. When I look at the car park in the school on match days now there are no Ferraris, Lambogenies or Bentleys.......Do we need a "Flash Harry" in the squad?
So reading all the responses which are very mixed it looks like the overall consensus after two years is “the jury is out”. I guess we will be better placed in another two years to really judge his tenure. (another 4 year plan anyone).
I wonder if we had held on for those two minutes on Saturday been level on points with the play offs if the needle might have moved more into the positive camp.
We have been told “fine margins” (copyright Mark Warburton) for quite some time and two minutes does seem to reinforce that statement.
Two bloody minutes - Apologies it still grates me on this fine Wednesday morning and will do for quite some time yet.
I believe it’s two years this month since Christian Nourry took over the helm at QPR. I thought it would make an interesting midweek thread on what the thoughts were of progress so far. Personally I am in the cup is half full camp and believe we have turned the ship and are now heading in the right direction below are some main pointers from me:
Positives
Squad - Recruitment has improved and we now have the best squad we have had for years and it seems a good blend of youth and experience and looks a much happier dressing room. For the first time in years we have players who are now worth looking at for teams higher up the food chain. We are not (yet) in a relegation battle and still with an outside chance of the play offs.
Manager - Maybe divides opinion but I’m still happy with the progress we are making under Julien Stephan who was a thoughtful choice and the same profile to continue the work done by Marti.
Academy - Plans to upgrade to Cat 1. Seems to be a positive move although only time will tell on this one.
School End - Removal of away fans from lower tier and having our own fans there seems to have certainly helped improve our home form.
Negatives
Better communication with fans. Good to see we are now communicating better with injuries but maybe more sessions with fan groups.
Performance team - This does need to improve the overall condition of our players compared to other clubs does by the naked eye seems very poor not just the injuries but the overall fitness of the team.
Pitch - God knows what happened there, it would be good if the club could let us know what the problem was and what is being done to fix it.
Finally a big shout out to our owners who continue to write the cheques to keep the lights on. Not only that but then converting the debt to shares so it is not shown on the balance sheet as club debt.
So for me this is still very much work in progress but we are in a much better position now than we were two years ago.
I've only just managed to watch the highlights. Tried to block it out but it ruined my Saturday night out with the wife and the whole of Sunday.
After 50 years I should be used to it but this one will stick around for a while. The real annoying part is every time we have a shot of getting in the play offs we fluff our lines........every bloody time.
Thanks Clive - Captured the emotions of the four minute disaster perfectly.
The last minute winner away at Coventry last season stayed with me for while this one may linger even longer.
I keep telling myself to look at the bigger picture - Not in a relegation scrap, club moving in the right direction etc but those moments still take the wind out of your sail.
FFS - I missed out on West Ham tickets as I was to slow off the mark and had very disappointed children. “Don’t worry” I told them “I will get Charlton tickets and we will do that one”
Guess who has been to slow of the mark again……Dad well and truly in the Doghouse again.
I am absolutely loving Dunne and Cook "thou shall not pass defending" maybe because I was always a defender back in the day my legs allowed me to play Sunday League.
Defending is an art and those two are huge rocks on which to build from. To get Ronnie in the team I would (as I've said many times before) go to 3 at the back with wing backs.
