Wales take on Poland this evening in their final nations league game they have to win to prevent relegation to the second tier of the nations league. Recent must win fixtures have proven a success for Cymru and that has to repeat itself this evening for the country to remain at the top table.

Brennan Johnson took the plaudits after the Belgium 2-1 loss on Thursday but manager Rob Page picked him out as a real plus post match. ”He’s been superb," said Page. "Honestly, he's come on so much in such a short time. I've asked something different from him tonight, I asked him to play as a midfielder, but when we get the ball we can find him in those pockets where Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard pick the ball up.When you see him run with the ball, it's brilliant isn't it. That's his game, that's his strength. He always looked a threat for us every time he got on the ball." Johnson will almost certainly start tonight’s game.

Robert Page would not confirm or deny if Gareth Bale would start, but praised the contribution of his captain. "Having seen what he's done for Wales recently, if he's fit and he's available, he's playing," said Page. "He's trained today and done really well. It's common sense with Gareth, he's not played that many minutes for his club and he's had a long journey to get over here. He's trained really well and did really well when he came on the other night, and he's put himself in a position now where he could potentially start for us”

From that Gareth Bale is likely to start the game and has made it clear he wants to. "I feel a lot better physically, sleep-wise, and I'm ready to start if the manager selects me," said Bale. "It makes it better for the national team if there's competition in every position, so everyone needs to keep working hard. We want to stay in League A and we want to test ourselves against the best teams, but we know it's been a bit of a different Nations League campaign because of the focus we had on the Ukraine game. It's important for us to try and win the game tomorrow night to try and stay in the top league, but it's obviously not as big as qualifying for a major tournament. We're going to give it everything, like we always do. We have a chance to stay in the league by beating Poland. It's going to be a difficult game tomorrow night and we will prepare like we always do and focus on ourselves. The expectation from ourselves is there now. We're competing with these big teams and we're always in the games and that's testament to us. We're definitely on the right trajectory, we're definitely improving and that's the direction we want to continue to go in."

It’s a must win game for Wales and it starts at 7.45pm tonight.
