Kyle Joseph on his way to Blackpool and no Cabango against Brondby
Wednesday, 12th Jul 2023 07:00 by @Cornish67David

Kyle Joseph who has already had two loans spells since signing for the Swans from Wigan is clearly on his way out again as he was omitted for the second time in four days from Michael Duff’s Swansea squad.

Speculation regards him being a part of the Jerry Yates deal to Swansea from Blackpool is now confirmed, which makes it a certainty he is at least a part of the deal whichever way it is reported. Kyle has only featured for the Swans twelve times in league and cup games since signing in June 2021. He has though been relatively successful at Oxford United and Cheltenham on loan over the last two seasons. It’s a surprise move as Duff had Kyle on loan when he was at Cheltenham Town. Swans fans were hopeful that he would be seen more regularly this season.

The Swans drew 0-0 with Brondby IF at Fairwood behind closed doors yesterday afternoon in a competitive but pretty low ‘key’ affair. As expected Josh Key had a second half run out for thirty minutes after completing his move from Exeter City last week.

In amongst the friendly going ahead Jerry Yates completed his medical and signed officially yesterday evening from Blackpool making him a Swansea City player. He is the third signing of the summer with Josh Ginnelly the other name to come in to the Swansea.Com Stadium. Unfortunately he suffered an injury setback on the first morning of Swans training. That could see him on the treatment table for some weeks to come.

On the game itself Swans head coach Duff seemed reasonably happy with the run out his players had. “We were a little bit sloppy in the second half with the ball, which is unlike us, but I don’t worry too much about that because we have good technical footballers, so we can improve on that. We could have had a penalty in the first minute and that has come from some of the things that we’ve been working on, and then some of the things we’re asking them to do are slightly different so there’s a lack of understanding, but that will come. That’s why you have pre-season to work on these things. The last couple of days has been about working out of possession and knowing when to press and not to press, so it’s bit by bit at this stage of pre-season. I’ve been pleased with the attitude of the players and their willingness to take on new information”

No mention as yet has been made regards Ben Cabango not getting a game after featuring for the Swans in the 2-0 victory over Haverfordwest County recently. The fact that Duff didn’t mention him in any post match comments yesterday evening will raise some concerns. You would expect a key player like Cabango would feature in a friendly of this nature, and if not at least some comment from the Swans staff on his non inclusion.

You would expect that to be clarified today.

Swansea City (first half): Andy Fisher, Joel Cotterill, Brandon Cooper, Kyle Naughton, Azeem Abdulai, Ben Lloyd, Fulton, Allen, Ntcham, Whittaker, Josh Thomas.

Swansea City (second half): Lewis Webb, Joe Thomas (Josh Key 60’), Filip Lissah, Harry Darling, Nathan Wood, Cameron Congreve, Matt Grimes, Jamie Paterson, Ollie Cooper, Joel Piroe, Liam Cullen.
