Michael Duff : We’ve has a good goal disallowed : Jamal penalty questioned …
Sunday, 29th Oct 2023 08:00 by Keith Haynes

Michael Duff was pleased with his sides endeavour and commitment as much as he was with his sides efforts against Watford and Leicester City. The difference being this time the Swans won the game, and deservedly so.

The referee, as much as he and his assistants tried to change the nature of the result with a plethora of questionable decision making couldn’t take away a great win in Lancashire yesterday afternoon. “Today I thought we were better with the ball. We tweaked a couple of things in the press. We’ve had a good goal disallowed, one disallowed for offside which was, the second one was onside”

We concur with Duff on the second disallowed goal, Liam Walters reporting directly from the game had a side on view of the pass from defence to Jamal Lowe and made it very clear it was onside. He mentioned the position of the linesman in the move, fairly well behind the run of play and his decision to call the goal offside was immeasurably wrong. Liam also engaged with a few reporters at the game who thanked him for the Indy stats on the game, the 1971 stat especially.

Then there was another Jamal Lowe incident in the second half. Swans fans were right in front of the penalty incident, which again was waved away by referee Steve Martin, and no we didn’t see his nose grow, but it should have. Duff was unhappy too. “I think Jamal was a penalty, he says (the referee) there’s not enough contact. He’s the wrong side of his man, he’s about to shoot, why would he fall over ? Without getting to involved with the referee I didn’t think he gave us a lot today“

Of course there’s many great things to take from an away win. That Liam Cullen goal especially. (above) Duff- “The clean sheet is another pleasing aspect, every clean sheet we’ve kept we have won. That shows the importance of clean sheets. You only have to score one, and not have to score two or three to win the game” Another topic in discussion was the on loan Newcastle United player Harrison Ashby. “I’ve said to him there’s challenges, the whole intensity is nothing he’s ever been used to. He’s not been able to get through ninety minutes, that’s the challenge. He’s had a full pre season, he’s trained every day. That’s the challenge ‘for him’ because what you don’t want, the position that he’s in, and the competition that he’s got, like we’re talking about, we might need to make a sub. If your a right back, that’s the best we’ve seen of him”

We will carry the full interview for you to watch a bit later on today.
