Swans looking to get revenge on typical Stoke tactics
Tuesday, 3rd Mar 2026 08:00 by Keith Haynes

The Swans are back on home turf this coming weekend (Saturday 3pm) with a game against Stoke City which Josh Tymon is most eager to take part in. To say he was kicked continuously in the reverse fixture at Stoke in December is an understatement.

That day Stoke City beat the Swans 2-1 in a game that saw a special goal for the away side. A wonderful left wing run by Melker Widell supplying a perfect pass across the Potters area which Zān Vipotnik (below) latched onto for the only Swans goal of the game was sublime. However, it wasn’t enough as Stoke kicked anything on their way to a win. Accept it Stoke fans, it’s what you do.

Josh Tymon was the subject of targeted fouling in December

Josh has had some incredible games this season for the Swans, of late you can see how tired he is falling foul of Ipswich Town on Saturday, giving away a goal in the second half. Can we forgive him for that ? I think so because he has been formidable at times this season. Having signed a new contract until 2029 if anyone fancies his services they will have to cough up serious money come the summer. He has already stated to Sky Sports last week that he loves it at the Swans and is now working very hard on his game since arriving in SA1.

That is more than evident over the past two seasons.

Leo Walta is slowly being introduced into the starting eleven, he obviously has talent but there are question marks over his physicality as there is over a number of the Swans side. Franco has learned to deal with that aspect of the game in the Championship and continues now to be stand out in midfield, a fans favourite for sure and someone who is now deserving of those plaudits. We hear that Adam Idah is potentially two weeks away from being declared fit for full training which can only be good news. Options up front have decreased since Bobby Wales left on loan until the end of the season to Huddersfield. The latest on him is he has made more appearances for the Swans this season (4) than he has for Huddersfield Town. That for the Swans isn’t something they maybe expected when agreeing to him leaving for Yorkshire in January.

Wales was a mercurial player when at Kilmarnock, another fans favourite but isn’t earning the credit he desires at the Terriers. Maybe that is a reflection of the standards in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership ? We have a full and detailed report on our four Scottish loans in that league coming up this week from Olle Söderholm. It will be a fascinating report we are sure of that.

Of course you will hear far more on this upcoming game at the swansea.com on Saturday. And we have to say thank you for your massive supoort of this website.
