Swans win away again : The story behind the game, Key blow & Matos elated
Sunday, 20th Sep 2026 08:00 by Swansea Independent

It was a hard fought game yesterday against Lincoln City, they came out of it with a lot of credit. It isn’t the type of football that will earn them recognition from the purists, and it won’t see them gain promotion, but it’s what they do and they do it well.

⚽️ Swans head coach, Vitor Matos (above) was full of praise post match. “You face a lot of long throws, a lot of set-pieces and so you spend a lot of time organising and having to have the right mindset. We were able to stay stable in those periods and then at the end of the first half we were able to impose ourselves and then we started the second half really, really well. Then we showed the proper collective effort as a team to make sure we were able to get the result. So we are happy with this feeling and the efforts of everyone and now we have some time to reflect and prepare for what’s next.”

First off our Swansea City ratings.

⚽️ Swans : Lawrence Vigouroux 8, Filip Lissah 6 Ben Cabango 7 (c), Stephen Welsh 7 (Jenson Seelt 82), Josh Tymon 6 Marko Stamenic 7 Stephen Eustáquio 7 (Gonçalo Franco 78) 6 Elijah Just 7 (Joseph Opoku 60) 6 Melker Widell 7 Moussa Yeo 7 (Ronald 60) 6 Adam Idah 6 (Zan Vipotnik 60) 6

Unused Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Jay Fulton, Tom Iorpenda, Tiago Parente

Swans stats are on the right.

⚽️ Key injury, long lay off ahead.
Matos : "We all know how important Keysey is for us. We have Fil who played a massive game today, but we understand that all we can do now is help Keysey to recover and then adjust the team in terms of our idea and keep moving forward. Josh (below) will stay out for a little bit - the club will announce it,"

⚽️ Keith Haynes, owner & editor of Swansea Independent : This has been a fantastic start to the season, when last seasons results, and this are combined under Matos it’s promotion stuff. Even with a short bed in time from November we are seeing the complete deal that Vitor puts on the table. Last summer the recruitment department led by Adam Worth started this magnificent rebuild and we should not forget he also was the driver and sponsor for getting the thirty eight year old Portuguese coach to Swansea. Yes it takes more than one person and behind him he has a solid - and what looks like a seamless team in support. The away games at the likes of Middlesbrough, Wolves, West Ham, Bristol City and West Bromwich Albion as it stands are the real tests. These are the games that must be targeted as key games after the international break. The signings this year have proven that good quality permanent signings are indeed far better than flash in the pan loans. Credit to the club for supporting Vitor so well, the personal business goes on behind the scenes and from what he are hearing this is very much just the start.

I feel really glad to have found this forum and to be a faithful daily reader of everything you do. Keep up the great work, and let's hope the international break doesn't hurt this good run the team's on too much—honestly, I wish it were shorter because I'm really going to miss the footy!
