Birmingham City v Swansea City : Fans warning + big game latest news Saturday, 20th Sep 2025 07:00 by Keith Haynes There’s little news about this morning injury wise bar the fact we understand that the same players are out as per Wednesday evening and that win against Nottingham Forest. There is a knock being attended to but had that been an issue we would have had more info by now. We expect Ricardo Santos to be out for a few more weeks at least and ‘would expect’ that’s the same timeframe for Marko Stamenic. Jay Fulton wasn’t match fit and was still recovering on Wednesday. Zeidane Inoussa is fit and an expected starter for this early kick off (12.30pm) plus Ben Cabango will return in the centre of defence as captain for the Swans. He will replace Kaelan Casey. Cameron Burgess is expected to start. Samuels-Smith had a decent debut for the Swans this week in the League Cup, he looked very aware on the left side of defence before being replaced by Josh Tymon in the second half. Manuel Benson looked like he had a spark or two in him as well, he was replaced by Ronald as was Adam Idah by Zân Vipotnik. You would expect all those replacements to start later. For us Gonçalo Franco looked out of sorts on Wednesday and Melker Widell who replaced him may well be thinking he is doing enough for a start ? Melker is a very talented player who will get better with games and not bit part appearances. Malick Yalcouye was exceptional and surely head coach, Alan Sheehan will start him and Ethan Galbraith today ? In fact in Galbraith’s case it’s a no brainer. Adam Idah seemed happy after the game and is looking forward to causing selection issues for Alan Sheehan this season. ![]() This is a fixture where you start with your best eleven. The Swans have to watch their lack of concentration as illustrated last Saturday. A goal right at the end of the first half by Oli McBurnie levelled matters at 1-1 for Hull City - and again with seconds to go in the second half Hull again levelled to finish the game 2-2. That was repeated on Wednesday with Nottingham Forest scoring right at the end of the first half to make it 2-0 in the League Cup. Birmingham City head coach, Chris Davies has now spoken out about his connections and potentially joining Swansea City. “I spoke to them when I was at Spurs, and it developed; it was fairly close, I would say, but in the end I was really happy in my job at Spurs and stayed there. I spoke to them the summer before that as well. It’s all about timing, and it wasn’t right for me then, but obviously they have gone on and made a great start to this season as well” We are wondering whether the make up of the decision makers at the Swans at that time was a factor. It was muted to us that it may well have been. He spoke directly to the then Chairman and the previous owners after one Swans game Davies was spotted at. That was the last we heard of him and from the Swans on him being appointed. Birmingham City are looking to put right what fans are calling a very poor start to the season. Davies stated this week he was looking to “impose box action and box entries” on the Swans today, hopefully that doesn’t get too messy. He doesn’t sound under pressure, but there seems to be an entitlement brewing amongst Blues fans that they shouldn't be where they are in the league. As many Swans fans know, where you are in the league is very much where you deserve to be. Going into this game the Championship table looks like this after Middlesbrough defeated West Bromwich Albion last night. Boro won 2-1 in front of nearly twenty eight thousand at the Riverside Stadium. ![]() Birmingham City are only a point behind the Swans which again tells you that their expectations are far higher than their visitors today. However, if they fail to score in this fixture that will be three games on the bounce with no goals. Injury news for the home side includes Lee Buchanan, Scott Wright, Keshi Anderson and Willum Willumsson as all out. Jack Robinson Is hopeful of inclusion but eyes will be on Jay Stansfield, Demarai Gray, Kanya Fujimoto and Kyogo Furuhashi to turn around what is being considered as poor form this afternoon. Lewis Koumas is on loan from Liverpool and Patrick Roberts the same from Sunderland so Davies has a healthy and well backed squad to choose from. Birmingham City have issued a warning to their own supporters after some unsavoury incidents at St Andrews and away from home this season, behaviour which does attract rival fans of a certain disposition. Hopefully the bans already enforced have worked. It’s a big game for the Swans, any sort of result would be welcome but on current form despite the pundits mostly going the Blues way the Swans will most certainly give anyone a game at the moment. As we have stated, the quiet revolution has gone relatively unnoticed outside of Swansea. But after Wednesday people are beginning to sit up. The away end is sold out, it will be a total sell out throughout the ground based on tickets sold on the run up to this match. Travel safe and have a great day. Team news will follow.
