Arsenal under eighteen goalkeeper Remy Mitchell is set to join Swansea City on a three year deal after discussing terms over the last week. He isn’t seen as direct competition with Andy Fisher or Steven Benda but more as a first choice at reserve level. The swans have released three goalkeepers this week, and with only Lewis Webb as a serious contender in reserve Remy will be seen as a replacement for Nico Defreitas-Hansen who disappointed after signing from Everton.

Swansea City have confirmed those players who will be departing this summer from the club, there seems to be a focus on the academy especially with numerous senior players being allowed to leave as well. Korey Smith, Ben Hamer and Yan Dhanda are already reported as leaving and now there’s a whole load more.

Joel Piroe completed his first appearance in the League Cup with a well taken third goal for the swans this evening in Berkshire. A TV and streaming blackout meant only those with radio access could listen to the game, and even then many Swans TV subscribers promised free audio access didn’t benefit. Fortunately the technical issues, if that was the issue tonight in Swansea were not replicated on the pitch by a much changed team.

Swansea City have announced their squad numbers for the coming season which starts tomorrow at Blackburn Rovers. Captain Matt Grimes who is still at the club is number eight, and if he passes a fitness test this afternoon will travel with the squad to Lancashire today.
