Leon Britton was signed initially on loan from West Ham by Brian Flynn in 2002, Britton was one of the vital players that season to help keep the Swans in the Football League. A ‘Battle for Britton’ campaign was set up by fans and Leon returned the following season on a permanent basis.
Britton, who played as a winger in his early days, is one of the few players to have played in every division for the Swans. He did leave to go to Sheffield Utd in 2010, but returned 6 months later under Rodgers where he helped get the Swans promoted to the Premier League.
Britton, now in his 10th season, has played over 400 games for the Swans. Makes the team tick and plays the defensive midfielder role superbly.
