Eze abuse 09:14 - Dec 30 with 13110 viewsdavman

Getting silly isn't it?

He wasn't awful at all yesterday; no worse than many of them, but there was a lot more anger towards him than any other player in the Lower Loft.

Why do we turn on the talented?

My Pompey mate with me was amazed at the level of frustration showed by the crowd in light of our league position and the fact that we were not losing. He was right too...

Can we go out yet?

The 'small' thing might be a red herring in this case. Maybe it's a polite way of saying 'we don't want you'. Eze has been through a number of academies and it seems none of them knew what to do with him. Maybe he was considered too much of a maverick? He only really got going when he went to Wickham.

No way is Chair or any of the others youth team players coming through in the same class as Eze.

Sublime touch, body control & strength, dribbling, great vision, flair, weight of pass, - and goals (he should score more and will surely learn to be more ruthless) - he has a stack of extremely rare talents.

The others are good but nothing more.

Anyway, he'll be Prem bound in the summer or end of next season at the latest, so let's just enjoy him while we can.

Apparently Millwall got rid because the first team manager (Harris?) wanted all youth sides playing 4-4-2. Seems like a nice, fairly quiet kid to me. Just delighted he’s ours.

Add temperament, doesn't react when fouled or when wrongly booked for diving, or over-elaborate goal celebration.
I certainly enjoy watching him play, watching him get out with the ball leaving 3 opposition
players in his wake and as you said sublime touches and passes.

Hope he is still with us in 2020

We’ve had a bit opinionated banter in relation to Eze. One of our pals has categorically stated he will never play at the highest level. This prompted all sorts of discussion about what is the highest level. It transpired this means top six club and champions league. I’m undecided believing that he is an immense talent but has way to go to fulfill his potential. With this in mind I didn’t take the bet. I do have one question who are people comparing Eze to they are making claims of not performing. Clearly it’s not Sylla, Washington, Smith. I’m left wondering are people setting their sites a bit high and perhaps unconsciously comparing Eze to Adel. Just a thought.

Well by that definition Taarabt never played at the highest level, and now he's not playing at any level.

That’s a fair point. What I am saying is that it feels as if people are comparing him to Adel when Adel played for us which was prior to his catastrophic failure.
