What a fckng con. I don't play as it a rule but i did five lines for a tenner last night. I won £140. Don't get me wrong, that's a good return but when i checked i got 5 out 6 numbers correct on the winning line....wtf...stick another couple of 00 on it and that seems about right. Impossible.

If the National Lottery carries the same odds as the Powerball here in the US, you're better off gambling on scratch tickets.

Check again. £140 was the prize for four numbers. For 5 numbers it was £1750.

5 numbers was £1750, 4 was £140

So either BlackCrowe misread the numbers, or misread the prize details. Funny how you're one misread away from at least a grand

Good luck BlackCrowe, hope you messed up to your benefit!

On your combined advice i re-checked and got 4 numbers and the bonus ball number (whatever that means) so i guess £140 is correct.

Ah well. A decent takeaway instead of a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Lottery tickets were declining as people realised that the chances of winning big were so minute and not worth it for 'just a few million'.

So, they basically turned it into a all-or-nothing Lottery by raising the jackpot but in doing so it's basically made anything less than the jackpot virtually nothing and the chances of getting that jackpot went up from around 14million-to-one to around 35million-to-one as they increased the number of balls from 49 to 59.

Complete con job and as Camelot is owned by the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, we are all funding their pensions.

My next door neighbour used to do the weekly Thunderball. Same shop, same "lucky"numbers. It started raining so he didn't bother this particular week and his numbers came up - £250,000.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

And that's the problem. If you know your numbers it's a case of what if. Pay £2 a week or stop and live with the chance and that one week you've lost millions.

The missus insisted I buy a ticket a few months ago.
(I never gamble on anything except poker - where the outcome is based on my efforts rather than dumb luck).

So just to shut her up and prove my point about what a waste of money ot is I bought just one ticket.
Buggered if we didn't go and win £176! Now she insists on a ticket every week...
(At least I'll still be breaking even for another year or so).

I won £10.00 on the postcode lottery. Actually, it was £20.00 as my glw has a ticket.

A guy I went to uni with got five numbers once, won a few grand. He picked birthdays and whatever. The last two numbers were his house number and his girlfriend's house number.

She asked him why he picked a number in particular and he said cos it were her house number. At which point she said it wasn't. It was next door. The right number would have got him the jackpot.

Still he was a cock so f**k him.
