Running the London Marathon for Children with Cancer 22:11 - Sep 8 with 2129 viewsEalingHoop81

Hi all

In just over three weeks time I will be running the London Marathon raising money for Children with Cancer.

The charity has been our firms annual charity for the past 3 years and just under 2 years ago they spoke at our Annual Conference. Listening to the speaker discuss the roots of the charity (the personal experiences of the founder led to him to start it in a similar manner to Mark Prince) and what they do for the families of children with cancer and the research they perform really hit a cord. As a father for 2 small children at the time (now 3!!), I had a moment of madness when they referred to their charity marathon places and spoke to our marketing team about taking one.

That was 22 months ago and the world has somewhat changed since. My original training ended pretty immediately when I went down with Covid in March 2020 and subsequently I have had numerous small running injuries but I’m now on the final push on what I thought was going to be a four month training programme!

I ran my only marathon back in 2009 and 12 years later, having recently hit my 40s I fear it’s going to be even harder this time round.

If you are able and would like to sponsor me - it’s a wonderful cause - please see my Virgin Money Giving page below:

This is also childhood cancer awareness month and you can read more about that and what this fantastic charity does on their website at the link below:

Many thanks for reading

Dan

Good luck Dan, I sympathise with the running injuries, supposed to be doing the virtual marathon this year and a combo of groin, knee and shin injuries mean I am going to walk it instead.

Not what I wanted but better than nothing.

Sexy Asian dwarves wanted.
