Tony F against a used car dealer? Not sure who my money would be on after the warren farm climb down.

Will the fans be as onside as david mc suggests? a lot I know would rather stay at loftus road regardless of consequences.

It's not going to be QPR/Fernandes vs CarGiant. We have the support of the council & Boris, they want us there & asap too. Whatever plans CarGiant have don't (currently) have the support that ours do. Yes CarGiant own the land but that will get sorted through CPO's etc. Are CarGiants plans to expand likely to get planning permission, I very much doubt it, it's all just hot air in my opinion.

Also this development can't be compared to Warren Farm, a new stadium will significantly increase the clubs revenue & take the pressure off our owners & their finances, Warren Farm would never have done that.

Poll: Who’s better?

If it had been the bbc site at white city I think more fans would be likely to support TF on this as their commute to the ground would not have changed.

Also old oak will be nothing but a humongous building site for 15 years or so, I think the novelty of the new ground will wear off pretty quickly with fans when they are having to traipse into harlesden's arsehole every other week with no central line, no hammersmith and city, less buses etc to catch, and no pubs or bars nearby.

Just my opinion, and accept I could be in the minority, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if TF pulled out of this one as he appears to have already done with the training ground.

Not dissimilar to the development at Pride Park.

The building of the stadium led to much of the development on the rest of what was polluted old railway sidings.

DCFC left a ramshackle old ground with inadequate capacity, but not before some significant arm twisting. The local council encouraged them to move, when Derby were hesitating. There may have been financial inducements - but maybe not!!!

We havnt pulled out of Warren Farm yet have we ?

I thought he was pre empting a board meeting in the Autumn , although some posters familier with that sort of thing said it may be just a tactic .

Either way I dont think the plug has been pulled yet , still we got a long thread out of it Eh ?

Not sure how many of you are familiar with the plot of the film "Carlito's Way" but I am terrified that Tony's dream will go the same way as Carlito's. Carlito has a plan, the money is there, he's all set then, bam, Benny Blanco from the Bronx (CarGiant) turn up and turn his dreams to dust.

Man, I hope my premonition is wrong.

There is no future at Loftus Rd, it's too small. We made a big mistake in staying at Loftus Rd instead of buying the White City Stadium site when it was affordable. We can't make the same mistake again we must grab this opportunity. If we mess up again we'll find ourselves in Hayes or Feltham.

He should have bumped Benny off when he had the chance.

If the project is to involve more than just a football ground then I think you are correct but I do recall that Paladini (don't laugh) investigated expanding the capacity of Loftus Road to 28k (if memory serves...). So perhaps - just perhaps - there is technically scope to expand the ground on its existing site. The big issue with that is that Tony's master plan goes in the waste paper basket - no houses, no (non-QPR) entertainment venue, no new business/retail space etc.

I haven't seen notification that we have given up on Warren Farm.
You never know with these public statements whether it is a genuine concern and intention to pull the plug or brinkmanship to put pressure on Ealing Council because they risk having to go back to square one for offloading it on to another tenant or face having the ongoing cost of maintenance for the next however man years.

It's all politics and there will be bumps along the way to both Warren Farm/other training ground and New Queens Park/other ground.

It's a double edged sword being openly communicative with everyone because everything you state early on is then ridiculed the minute it does not go to plan.

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

28k would be a maximum then what? If we needed a bigger capacity we'd have to look for another site. Even if we build a stadium and Tony's other projects don't go according to plan we'd be more desirable to potential takeovers because we'd have a big stadium on a new development in urban London. If we had moved into the White City Stadium all those years ago we would have been bought by a wealthy owner far sooner.

A schoolboy error! Every time I watch that film, I hope Carlito will achieve his dreams. They should put out a DVD with an alternative, happy ending, like the producers of "Things to do in Denver when you're dead" did. In the alternative ending, our hapless heros finally get their "boat drinks".
