Why on earth do the clubs insist on ruining the game yet further and further by chasing yet more and more tv money.......and also raping the fans with ticket prices......when they very rarely get to keep any of it as it quite literally goes straight back out the door in players wages? "Let's increase turnover but not profit". Yeah that's a stroke of business genius. Not. Completely pointless. The game is shot in the Premiershite.

Would absolutely love it if all the Football League clubs voted that there would be no more promotion or relegation to/from the Premiershite. Based upon the fact that they don't actually increase profit (and in fact mkes huge losses in many instances) by getting to the Premiershite, what would they lose by doing this? It may take time, but if anything the game would benefit, as would the fans, and it may even kill off the Premiershite in the end (and any clubs in the Premiershite would have to start at the bottom of the pyramid if it went belly up!!).

Just a thought

Blimey somebody else said exactly that on another thread.

It could be time to isolate the "elite" clubs in their own poxy division. What I'd like to see is an American style draft pick to even things out a bit.

The Premier League would continue quite easily without the Football League their foreign sales would not affected.

Would the global audience still be watching if the grounds were empty as everyone in this country was going to Football League matches instead?

The whole thing is going like the Harlem Globetrotters. It will all be plastic and pretend with 4 quarters. plastic fans with no idea who players are. Forget history, its about now. Tickets will be sky high and players will never talk to the fans. It will be like....like.... Chelsea is now.

Get rid of all the corporate Bollocks, take out the executive boxes and we could have another ten rows or more in the paddocks and increase our capacity to a reasonable level, I hope we don't struggle next year but I'm fûcked if I want to see us back playing in a league that you're happy to finish 4th from bottom in. Let the big 5 or six form a European league and bring the rest back under the football league umbrella, distribute the money evenly and create a league that any bugger has a chance of winning.

Well from a business perspective, that is what the PL is targeted with doing, getting more money for TV rights etc.

This allows the PL so spend more money on star players via transfer fees and wages, which in turn leads to more TV revenue and so we go on - slightly simplistic I realise but basically there you go.

No promotion or demotion would not affect much in the PL much, but the FL might end up with less money, who knows.

The real thing that will make a difference will be empty stadiums as that will look bad on TV and possibly affect TV revenue, which would lead to change.

I'd love to see cheaper prices but the reality is most boards of football clubs now see this purely as business and ego, so just try and squeeze as much out of everything they can.

I have to say I completely disagree. It could bring it to its knees in about 25 years time

My sentiments exactly. And I believe it would work to the benefit of the majority, or even all, of the reformed Football League.

I always quite liked that draft idea.

About 30 years ago I remember discussing it with a Manure fan (when they were still cr*p) who thought it would work but dismissed it on the grounds that it would be an interference with the free market, which I thought a bit odd given that the yanks seem to cope with it without turning into North Korea.

Even if they were it wouldn't matter to the TV fúckers. Look at Germany season before last, where the TV company broadcasting a game overlaid a track of previously-recorded fansong during a quiet match. Had the fans there up in arms and, unlike us sheep over here who hand over ever-increasing amounts of money for ever-less input, made a big stink about it and nipped it in the bud.

QPR - "shit but local"

Not gonna argue that fans are treated properly now especially in the top division but most don't enter debt in the premier league, this is frankly more blame anyone but Tony Fernandes bullshit if I'm honest.

Any attempt to cut ties by the Football League would be suicidal. They rely on the Premier League for a myriad of reasons. The only attendances that will suffer are those at the small clubs. Football has changed and none more so than the fans.

Would people really keep going to watch a league which consists of exactly the same teams every single season, with only a handful ever having a chance of winning it? And the rest fighting over meaningless positions in the table? Must be stupid feckers if they would!

I'd go even further and have all Football League and non-league clubs fail to enter their registration for the FA Cup each season. That would leave only the Premiershite clubs in it and would make it pointless. I'd also change the League Cup to an FA Cup equivalent (i.e. non-league clubs allowed to enter), but would not allow Premiershite clubs to enter.

Bring the Premiershite w@nkfest to its knees by strangling it. As I said, it would take time, but you could bury it.

Solidarity payments that account for a large amount of a clubs income. Parachute payments. Friendly games and cup ties. Free loans.

Television and news coverage that are part of the Premier Leagues deal.

A reason to exist.

So if you dislike the Premiershite and don't go for that reason then you are not a genuine fan? It's that mentality which allows the clubs to take the living p!ss out of supporters.

And no I wouldn't go. I haven't bothered going since we were promoted into that w@nkfest the first time. And that's after 25 years of following Rangers, many of those years involved attending most home and away games. It's now a pointless league IMO, and has been for quite some time.

All of that would still happen; save for parachute payment which are a load of bollix anyway, create inequality in the Football League and are those there for this who fall out of the w@nkfest in the first place to ensure that they don't go bust having overspent on player wages striving for 17th place!

I find the Premiershyte boring, same old teams with the dosh up the top all the time.

The only time it's worth paying attention to is the scrap to stay up at the end of the Season.

Overpriced, over hyped Bollox fest - teams aren't exactly doing well in the Champions League are they.

Bourinhio came back here for an easy life and a big pay packet - let's face it,they'll probably keep winning the title for the next few years as there's no competition zzzzz

You misunderstood by use of "genuine". I use it to distinguish between those fans and the tourist/fair weather type of fan.

I have to ask what do you want from the club as I assume you will now be going. We win games we get promoted so if you wish us to stay in the Championship we need to lose. I cannot imagine you go to games wishing us to lose so it really is a conundrum

Love the draft idea, but would be difficult to get it to work.

Difference with American sports is that there is very little alternative to playing in America. Basketball for instance, there are some European leagues, but they pay a fraction of the money and the quality is far inferior.

I do like the idea though. Get rid of club academies and have everyone coming up through a single English youth system. Instead of paying for the academy clubs pay to get a good draft pick, but with a limit to the number and scope of picks, based on how much they put in, and how well they did the year before. For instance, Chelsea won the league and want to put in the most money, but they are limited to having only 2 of the top 15 picks - or whatever.

This system would be an interesting way of allowing smaller prem clubs to pick up exceptional players (and actually play them) and I believe it would be a massive benefit to the national team. Let's face it, or national team isn't going to win anything until they have a long term plan which creates a competitive advantage, like France in the 90s or Spain in the 00s.

The technical ability in the Premiership is far superior to the Championship.

The problem is two fold though. One the money is disproportionate to it is uncompetitive and two, it is so technical that it is as boring at f*ck.

The Championship is at least competitive on most levels and that makes it so much better as a product to watch.

Never knowingly right.

Or they go and win the champions league every year with Real Madrid rather than Burnley and the English game would become the Scottish game.

A wonderful system that only works when you control the whole sport as you suggested.
