Boro away on 08:18 - Jan 9 with 3412 views | Northernr | I got it down towards £60 by doing a Grand Central return to York and then a local ticket from there. You have to use the Grand Central website though as helpfully, and rather scandalously really, LNER's website now just shows 'not available' against the Advance tickets on GC trains. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Boro away on 13:02 - Jan 13 with 2519 views | YorkRanger | I have been looking at trains for various dates and I think the problem is at the moment LNER haven't released that weekend yet. There are a load of track improvement works on the East Coast Main line so there are some weekends where you cant get into Kings Cross on that line (25th Jan and 29 Feb being two - the latter date screwing up a trip we had planned for Birmingham). Bizarrely though Grand Central do show the 4th April and right now (using Clive's suggestion of changing at York) you can get the 7.48 from Kings Cross to York and the 7.02 pm from York to London on Advance tickets for £32. If you do take this option and have any time to kill at York, The York Tap accessed via platform 3, the side of the main entrance, lays on a fine range of real ales... | | | |
