Richard’s awol ?
at 00:26 31 Jan 2024

Appreciate as fans we don’t see the individuals in the training ground each day (it’s bad enough seeing them once a week on the pitch) but I’m struggling to identify who all of these other players can be or if it’s just Richards. From Jan 2022 we clearly had an issue within the squad and one day it will come out, probably on Patreon, but most of those players have now moved on. Yes Beale recruited a load of duds but equally, other than a few, they have all moved on.

Of the first 11 that started on Saturday, there’s only one player I would have a concern about re attitude. Surely the Summer recruits, given the issues Gaz saw, must have had some form of assessment about their personalities and professionalism. Three of the recruits have played almost their entire careers with decent prem clubs (Begoviic, Cook, Colback). Others came through very good academies with appropriate standards. Others like Cannon and Fox don’t seem to ring any alarm bells.

Re Martin’s comments last year, departures since have included Balogun, Laird , Roberts, Lowe, Stef, Dozell, Amos and Dieng, all of whom had various comments re attitude (other than Amos and Stef unless I missed something there).

Surely, surely the professionalism, attitude and approach must have changed since last year?

The law in England is that you remain innocent until proved guilty. The burden of proof may vary between the balance of probabilities and beyond reasonable doubt but failure to achieve the burden of proof requires a not guilty verdict, leaving the accused to remain innocent.

I do not believe there is any burden of proof that requires ‘certainty’ and so a claim could be made in the criminal court or a civil court against the accuser. I presume the CPS would have to do a very big about turn to make a case against the accuser (whom they determined the victim in the case and thought there was a reasonable prospect of a conviction to follow through with the court case in the first place).

The fact that someone accused is found not guilty in a court of law and people subsequently say they were just not proved guilty rather than declared innocent is exactly why the stigma of the claim follows them around for the rest of their lives.

Legally he is innocent

‘Fake’ hoops left me shocked and speechless
at 00:36 8 Apr 2023

I’m absolutely gutted tonight, like everyone else, and what gets me the most is that we just don’t look capable of attacking or defending. I understand the anger and frustration on here and I’m not going to defend the players, management or board but…..

……do we really think they aren’t trying or don’t care? Some perhaps but …. Chair & Albert love the club,Dykes has come back from pneumonia desperate to play, Field always gives his best etc. I don’t actually see a lot to dislike in these players individually when compared for example to the toxic ones in the Prem in 12/13 and 14/15 and it’s chalk and cheese.

I don’t know the answer, this evening I barely know the bloody question, but I don’t think it’s caring or effort here. There is a real lack of leadership in our squad, the four old heads that Warbs used to talk about are completely missing from this side. The confidence is shot to pieces in defence, and injuries and loss of form have stifled our attacking interactive play between Ilias and Willock etc that was so key to space being created for the full backs etc.

We just look a very poor side, that is very low on confidence and we needed someone to get a hold of the dressing room 4 months ago…….

What really hurts is that 2023 is the time I chose to start bringing my son with me. Leaving the R block for random seats in the family section each game feels odd as it’s over 25 years since I sat in the loft, but also heartbreaking that my 7 year old so looks forward to coming and then watches this crap!!!

We all deserve so, so much better

Our Midfield
at 20:34 2 Apr 2023

As I believe Bryan Clough said (or something like this) ….if you are conceding goals at one and and not scoring at the other, the problem is midfield…….been our problem for a while….all the way back to when Holloway had to play Hall in front of the back 4 to have a chance of getting a result

Great performance today. Moved from the R block to the family stand on lower loft to take my son and he absolutely loved it. His first game against Blackburn wasn’t as successful!

You get a different perspective from almost pitch level, and whilst I thought Kakay and Field were brilliant today in particular, I’m surprised no one has mentioned Lowe. I thought his desire and pace was massive in breaking up play and provided a massive threat

Let’s rock and roll? Preview
at 12:46 25 Feb 2023

Great preview as always Clive.

I’m taking my son for his first game today, 7 last month, got his new kit on really excited and for the first time in a while so am I. We had pencilled this one in 6 weeks or so ago but was getting concerned about the atmosphere turning toxic…..but the nostalgia of Wildthing back will improve matters.

Also moved my season ticket from the R block to the loft - not sat there for around 20 years.

Big day!!

Come on u Rrrrsss

Back 4?
at 17:37 18 Feb 2023

We’re conceding 3 a game….anyone…

But seriously, pre the injury Kakay could have played there, Masterson before being loaned out, JKS when he was fit. Today possibly Gubbins….but this could have been tried 6 weeks ago

Back 4?
at 17:27 18 Feb 2023

I appreciate it was working earlier in the season but I am absolutely baffled as to why we haven’t reverted to a back 3. One of the first things good managers tend to do is shore up the back line. We look pretty toothless going forward and without Chair and Willock working in tandom have looked goal shy for over 2 years.
Over the past 5 years, probably longer, we have looked far more comfortable with 3 at the back than playing a back 4. Given our position, inability to keep clean sheets etc I would have thought changing to a back 3 with wing backs would have at least helped reduce the tide of goals against. We just look so easy to play though

January Transfer Window Rumours
at 14:28 6 Jan 2023

Agree entirely with Northern’s points, but in this instance could they also be looking at the attacking options if Willock or Chair are sold in the window? We looked half decent with 3 behind the striker against Sheff Utd and always need Chair and Willock in tandom too pose a proper threat. If one is sold we need a replacement attacker.

I can see the current logic in Tim playing -we need to stop the rot and get some points etc but longer term Dozell, Amos, Richards need to be playing far more. We had the same issue with Bright a couple of years ago and it cost us £££ because we realised his potential for too late

Has the video disappeared. I have looked at Twitter and can see a ton of tweets but no clear idea of what actually happened…other than some QPR fan’s GF did something pretty inappropriate with an 18 year old? Why has it gone viral? What am I missing?

Amos and Dozzell
at 09:50 23 Oct 2022

I didn’t really think either were better or worse than the rest of the team in that second half. The biggest issue I felt we had was taking off Armstrong who provided a different threat to Amos both positionally and also physically. Wigan are big and strong and we ended up with one striker and more in midfield.

I also thought Beale pushed Laird right up the pitch so that he was on Maclean - presumably to try and push him back as he was threat for them. That sort of space is where Amos usually operates.

It was a bit backs to the wall in the second half and everyone was mis hitting passes - Dickie especially when he came on. Richards had one fabulous run but also struggled to get into the physicality of the game.

Hard to play CM at the best of times but when you consider we put 3 midfielders on it’s even harder!

Was thinking more Leeds and Villa. Leicester is interesting - but aren’t they completely skint? Can they afford to pay Rogers off? He’s a decent manager and I would hope he would turn it around there.

He’s going to go into do big things in football, but I don’t think it does him any harm in not walking out on us. That personal investment in players means nothing if you just walk away and showing loyalty to your players will, in the longer term, provide better return back. I would hope we’ll have him this year and perhaps next if he gets us promoted. Bit doubt he’ll be our manager in 12-15 months time in any case. But that’s fine. Waking after 3 months would have left a very sour taste.

A bit left field but I think my favourite moment last night was an off the ball argument by Ellerslie Road. Laird cleaned up some danger and the Cardiff LB or LW was clearly frustrated and started pushing and shoving. Laird just laughed at him and did a little dance imitating him being angry. Was very funny and made the Cardiff player look very silly.

It’s so frustrating that the moment we appoint a manger who seems to be exactly what we need and is doing everything right that we risk loosing him before the season even gets going and we’re back to square one.

We paid out compensation to Villa to get him and I expect we would at least receive a relatively decent fee for loosing his services.

I would however have concerns for him if he took the Wolves job. He talks an excellent game, knows football inside out and also appears an excellent man manager. The last part is a vital aspect of modern day football management as you cannot take the old fashioned scream and shout approach. If he were to walk out on us after 14 games the message it gives all his current and future players is that he doesn’t care about the players, the team aspect or the long term development of the club, he’ll go to the highest bidder or status of club going. Whilst of course there is progression and ambition, if he truly backs himself, he will know that those opportunities will come again if he continues to do well. Walking after four months says he has no loyalty to the players, club or owners. Try motivating the pampered prem players when they are in a relegation dog fight when they know your a mercenary and it’s a much more difficult prospect.

From everything I have seen and read about him I believe he has a very clear mapped out direction of travel in his career. He will make that sort of move after he’s used his time really wisely in the championship, hopefully getting us promoted or close to it this year…..🤞

QPR stun league leaders with early statement of intent - Report

Roberts was lying on the ball and he kicked the ball. Looked bad live but the replays looked less so. Not necessary at all but didn’t kick Roberts.

Willock injury

Not a truly fair comparison though as there have been lots of other changes to the team in the games he didn’t play to the ones we drew or won i.e.
Laird, Paal, Roberts and Balogun have all come to be starters in the team and/or grown into the championship (Paal for example).

Not saying he isn’t massively important, because he is, but we look very solid at the back now, have a lot of creativity coming from the full backs and all across the midfield. We also have options to step in for him (not as good obviously). Roberts or Amos can play his role (Roberts more directly than Amos who has a different skill set), Uncle could also potentially play there and Richards once match fit.

We could also go 3-5-2 with Chair off of Dykes or Roberts with 3 of Field/SJ/Amos/Dozell/Tim in the centre.

We have options and are far less of a 1 man team than back in Jan.

Willock injury
at 21:51 4 Oct 2022

He came out after the game with it fully strapped but with a clear limp. Hopefully the fact that he was load bearing and they let him onto the pitch is a good sign. The team is better set up to cope without him better this year, but it would still be a major major blow if he was out for any real length of time.

What a player he is (and what a performance that was!)

When we were in the same league as Swindon it was pretty well known he was a Ranger and made it clear he’d love to play for us. We got back to the Championship and he wasn’t good really a champ striker…..
