Yeh, it's about balance isn't it. Doesn't help really that the 1-2-3 month loans are gone now, and you have to loan out for half a season or not at all (albeit goalkeeper emergency loans are a thing). I'd personally like to see Walsh play League Cup at Cambridge, hopefully round two (lol) before the end of August, then go out on loan. One thing that really doesn't help our goalkeeper development is just how few cup ties we play. The other two are capable of bench sitting. If Nardi does get injured... well sht happens. |

I was impressed with Walsh at Coventry, though how much that was just noticing what a difference it made having a front foot goalkeeper after eight months of Begovic I don't know. Either way, he's played 17 games of senior professional football in his life, it would be a hell of a punt to hand him the gloves and say go on then you're our first choice keeper for 48 games of Championship. |

Loft - I'm much more on your side than some others TBH, really like Sinclair, think there could be a big player about to explode from all that rawness. Sadly I wonder if that might happen somewhere else. |

Larkeche started there as well and has only had a couple of very brief sub appearances since. Dozzell and Kakay bombed completely. |

Myke - On the referee and the linesman point... The lino was clearly under instruction to take his lead from the referee. Even fairly simple throw ins they were looking to the referee first before raising a flag. I was amazed he actually flagged for the penalty, that being so blatant I guess how could he not. When I was refereeing this would happen from time to time. You'd get some old, experienced referee who'd been around, they'd come in and see how young I was, and immediately tell me to only do throw ins and offsides, do not flag for free kicks, and check with me first before raising your flag and I'll indicate what I think it is. Ostensibly the reason is to stop a situation where the lino gives one thing and the referee gives another. In reality it just renders the assistants useless. I used to take great delight in immediately and provocatively flagging for a free kick anyway and forcing the old twt to give something he didn't want to give. On the points - 52 is usually the cut off. Peterborough were once relegated on 54 but it's never happened before or since. I think it'll need at least 52 this season. |

Hastings - agreed. Strength on the bench was a huge issue for the squad he took over (see Norwich report). Now we've got some options there. We've seen the power with Chair at PNE and Willock here of leaving a 'star name' out as a bit of a kick. Tony - Yes, although neither at the time nor on the replay since can I tell you why that is. Any ideas what it was given for? |

Myke - agree. Why are we a place where players come and fail, rather than thrive and succeed? We're a difficult place to come and play. Why? |

Colback was superb. He drove the whole thing. And I've been a huge critic of his. |

Baz I appreciate what you're saying, but the striker is there to score goals and we've lost the game because he's had three chances to do so and missed. I like my strikers to score goals. I like my midfielders to win tackles and play the ball forwards, contributing the occasional goal themselves. I like my centre backs to win first contacts and balls in the air. I like my goalkeeper to save shots that he's seen all the way from 25 yards out. I tend to mark accordingly with that. After two years of losing this team has run my patience very thin. If anything those marks are too high, and I only upped one or two of them to where they are after reading the message board and looking at the interactive ratings. Watford were fairly poor, and we've lost, at home, again. |

The biggest positive contribution from Martin, other than the Burnley goal, was him publicly stating that standards weren't high enough among the playing squad, that we aren't dedicated enough to what we're doing. A year on, nothing has changed. He was dead right. |

Absolutely Myke, think he's probably learned a bit this week about who he can and cannot trust to rotate in though. |

I’m still revisiting my prediction that Steven Caulker was a brilliant signing 10 years later :-) Nice to see you back posting. |
