That whole corner of France and northern Spain is just about my favourite bit of the world. Bordeaux down the Atlantic coast through Biarritz to San Sebastien. There's a little place called Moliets, next to Leon, with these enormous, sweeping, deserted beaches and towering sand dunes. There's a stopping train from Bordeaux down to Narbonne through Toulouse and Carcassonne. Then along the Med coats to Perpignan. All rugby league country. Hang round on the coast, or go through the high speed rail tunnel (imagine having such a thing) to Barcelona, one change and you're up through Rioja towards Bilbao. I think I'd already be living there if it wasn't for QPR and you lot Bordeaux an interesting case study for those who say we have to leave Loftus Road and have a nice big stadium in the middle of nowhere to be financially successful/sustainable. Their giant white elephant is one of the things that's helped sink them. As Coventry's did.

Dad was mad QPR, and I was in Hampton Hill for the junior school bit of my childhood when I got into football properly. Bit a nomadic existence but essentially it's been Grimsby > Hampton > Scunny > Sheffield for equal lengths of time, then a harrowing year on Corby, and London again ever since. |

It's a Tweet put out by one of the Championship podcasts. A little bit clickbaity, if you read the replies it's basically for the best seats - I guess the equivalent of buying Platinum at QPR, and their matchday tickets this year range from 28 to 55, with most around 33 quid. Up to you how extortionate you think that is to watch Scott Parker try to win every match 0-0. Meanwhile, West Ham have entered the chat...

A whole bunch of clubs basically got killed by the ITV Digital deal - Grimsby, Stockport, Tranmere etc. |

TBF it was unprecedented that they were in the Champ ever, absolutely incredible to me having grown up in the town. They're a Third Division side. When they got promoted into the Second in 97 it was seen as some sort of miracle and they were relegated straight back immediately. Shouldn't be Conference North though. |

Scunny were basically run into the ground by a bloke called Peter Swann who took them over promising Championship consolidation, spent loads on players (Ivan Toney was there for a while), rattled through managers, and basically torched the place. Then got all bitter and tried to hold onto the ground and evict them. They're now locally owned again and rebuilding. There's a really great hour podcast on the whole disaster on BBC Sounds which I'd recommend. |

Sounds like it was the usual five sitters to every goal though. Some of the comments on the Twitter thread are amusing. |

It's easily spun though isn't it. There's already been several fck ups, like the School End lower tier ticketing for Birmingham, Sheff Wed and Leeds, that has basically been allowed to slide because the team's doing well and everybody thinks Nourry is this force of brilliance sweeping through the club. Can you imagine the reaction a year ago if our pre-season had consisted of an 11-0 win against a Spanish Sunday league outfit played on a golf course? Fans locked out of the pre-season tour, squad list kept under wraps until an hour before the first game, opposition for the matches only announced a couple of days before? Ainsworth and Hoos would have been taking pelters for the farce of it all. But at the moment, outwardly, everything in the garden is rosy, and so this stuff just slides by. It wouldn't have been the big deal it was made out to be a year ago, but nor is it the completely irrelevant deal it's being made out to be now. |

Out of interest is anybody else just getting "cannot load seat map" on the ticketing website? Had to do ours over the phone - loads of fun when there's 11 of you going. |

I think I've said a few times it's probably gonna be one in one out when it comes to paying transfer fees (frees, loans, low fees etc not included). So Armstrong goes, we spend that money on Celar. Maybe we'll do Varane anyway regardless but there are a few clubs in for him.

Noticeably worse in F Block as well, we can usually hear a bit, but no longer. |
