Obviously if we were fans of another club and a team were scoring winners in the 94th and 90th mins we'd probably be saying the same. It's nice to hear nice things being said all the same.
Watching the highlights today shows the winning goal in full and I think its an indication how you can play faster passing attacking football - it really is a brilliant goal. Allarakhia has a throw in to Perry, crossfield pass to EEL, he passes it right to Gordon, Gordon plays a beautiful floated ball to Pritchard, Pritchard knocks it down to Dieseruvwe, Dieseruvwe plays it back to Perry, Perry fires a quick ball into Gilmour who controls it brilliantly, h Gilmour plays it through to Dieseruvwe, Dieseruvwe plays a wonderful pass through to Pritchard, Pritchard rounds Ndi with brilliant footwork and lays a wonderful near post cross to Gilmour who's continued his run to finish. It's a thing of beauty.
I don't think some of us will ever be confident until we win something - I was dreading it last night when the singing corner started 'we are top of the league' with 3 mins of injury time left! 🫣
Yes we can only look at us and York at the moment. Certainly until either one of us slips up and drops off the pace. Those 2 late goals by Dale last Wednesday and last night must have felt like a dagger in their hearts. They could've been 2 points ahead of us now and not 2 points behind. All eyes will be on Solihull now on Saturday to see how they respond.
Cheers. Yes we created next to nothing in the 2nd half - your keeper having nothing to do till the 90th minute (lucky for you) but I did say at ht our bench could be the difference and that's how it panned out. When you can bring on Allarakhia,Dieseruvwe and Pritchard they created that 1 chance we needed. Good luck - you are a tough nut to crack as we found out last season - you should make the play offs if you can get a keeper.
Joe Pritchard - you beauty! Yes its not all about one person but his contributions last Wednesday in the 94th minute and last night in the 90th has almost singlehandedly gained us those 4 points extra we need to be above York going into that final game.
Such an important 'statement' win. We've not done it at home with Jim and this team so that's a massive moment. It was our first game in hand too so to win it is so important because apparently points on the board are much better than games in hand - well we have 3 more points on the board and still 2 games in hand on York so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
Jones had a very costly miss in a 0-0 draw at Macc in 2001 - although we got to the play offs for the first time in our history those 2 extra points would've seen us finish 3rd.
Yes its a similar situation to Haaland at City or Kane with England. Basically if they are fit no other striker is getting a look in. Hopefully Mani D is here now for the 2nd half of the season fit and refreshed.
Jim post match talked about having to manage the squad to get through these next 6-7 weeks of games every 3.5 days. EEL was definitely 'rested' on Saturday - not sure about the others.
The weight of history is heavy on our clubs shoulders. 119 years of nothing (and please TVOS don't say the Lancashire Cup). Even recent history of glorious home failures against Spennymoor and Southend haunt a lot of this current squad. I mean York aren't much better with 1 league title (Division 4 1983/84) - although they have won the play offs 3 times and the FA Trophy twice. I just hope when the time comes that enormous weight of pressure isn't too much for everyone to overcome. There has to be a first time for everything...hasn't there?
