This is an Anderson thhread but as posters are 'digging out' Paal, just to say he is a decent LB for us in the Championship and if we get more of the ball in the last 3rd he will be even better. Knows where the goal is too. We should keep him unless a bigger and better LB comes into play - no player at the club is better than him at LB atm. |
| Forum Reply | Next season - 4 key players for us to keep at 09:04 22 Apr 2024
1 - We have pretty much been a selling club since the 1960's, maybe earlier. Back then we were a small club playing in the 3rd division. If the right price came in then we would sell. 2 - Nothing has changed although we are a bigger club than the 1960's but we would still sell for the right price. 3 - All this talk about we need to sell our better players for FFP reasons, etc is something that I leave to the Club Financial guys - I just do not know the finances of the club. But I would not sell our better players if we do not need to and some of the players being mentioned are our better and most important players. 4 - I do not believe that MC will agree with selling some of these players mentioned and I am not sure that we will need to if SKY give us 'bundles'. MC will want to improve us - 100%, he aint going to sit around & watch us perform poorly. 5 - What does need to happen is to get rid of many of these so called youngsters who do not play 1st team football and stop flaffing around with them. We need to sell or release some of our 1st team players as well who just are not good enough. 6 - We then need to sign some 'proper' players (GK & Forwards) to push us forward. Our aim next season should be, and it is asking a lot, is to push for the play-off next season. [Post edited 22 Apr 9:07]

Paal form has dipped for sure......was OKish yesterday. He could be better if we see more of the ball in the attacking 3rd......i would not sell him unless its for very good money. [Post edited 21 Apr 14:46]

Shocking comments about Paal......bit like the one about Dunne Experiment is over, drop him for Cannon!!!! |

I presume that he was Preston's No 23........he was a real handful. He is worth the club looking at him again. Showed a lot of natural talent. |

Its a real shame that posters cannot see how important 'ginger' is to this team, a real shame. Contrary to what gets written, he does not always pass back or sideways(he does if nothing forward is available). He positioning is very good, he supports play well both attacking wise and defensively, I do not go along with the statements to say that he is slow, he uses the ball intelligently and provides the experience that players need, even Field. He scores goals or he has this season, only one or so less than LD!!! MC picks him over most of the midfield players in his role.....posters should recognise that. Yes he has faults, bookings are not good but it is his way of playing and expressing himself, yes he gives the ball away occasionally, yes he does pick up injuries, etc, etc. I cannot be sure but I would expect he is very vocal on the training ground too for all of the players, especially the younger ones but also the more experienced, maybe the Manager as well. Posters need to get aware that he will be here next year and MC will be selecting him when he is fit and available.....not because he is a poor player but because he is very decent indeed. |
| Forum Reply | Begovic at 13:18 21 Apr 2024
Begovic will be replaced in the close season.....that says it all. Posters can think and say what they want but he is not a good keeper. Yesterday he did well, he made a crucial save, he earned his wages but good keepers are consistent and he is not consistent at all. |
| Forum Reply | Andersen at 13:11 21 Apr 2024
There were at least 6 better performers than Anderson yesterday.......he was average but was part of the winning team. |
| Forum Reply | Andersen at 09:01 21 Apr 2024
Yes he looks decent on the ball, does some very nice football, should have shot for goal in the first half but opted for a pass. It will be interesting to see if he can keep with the pace and action of the Championship. |

Not sure what the problem was but he certainly wasn't the Sam Field we all know. Not sure MC helped playing him in a more advanced position. Another fine player and somebody you would not like to be playing against. A proper team player, i would feel safe playing along side him. Arguably our best signing over the past few years |

He is 'big' for the Team and whilst many posters do not rate him thankfully MC knows just how important he is for the Team. Yesterday, he along with several players were excellent. Posters can go on about his bookings, etc but that is how he stamps his authority on the game and he will not change - he is a ginger!!! He is good for the less experienced as well, yesterday, 90 odd minutes gone, PNE had a throw in deep in their half, Armstrong meandering around and he told him 3 times to get his arse nearer to the action - Armstrong duly reacted and would have learned not to stand 25 yards away but to get closer and more involved. Colback is decent. |
| Forum Reply | Sam Field at 08:44 21 Apr 2024
Sam and a few others were 'well on it' yesterday.......he has played very well last few weeks, found his form again, but found it tough earlier season and why MC left him on the bench. |
| Forum Reply | Andersen at 08:35 21 Apr 2024
He is rather inconsistent......but a good addition to the squad. |
| Forum Reply | Preston Reflection at 08:34 21 Apr 2024
There was some big performances out there from quite a few players, a 'proper' team performance indeed. Preston looked a decent side and moved the ball very well with some decent players themselves. |
| Forum Reply | Begovic at 22:52 20 Apr 2024
Why is he a 'Chelsea Prick'?? I would say that he is a pretty average QPR goalkeeper and captain!! |
| Forum Reply | Begovic at 22:44 20 Apr 2024
Begovic has been pretty poor most of the season, surely you can see that. Smart save today and played a decent game overall without being tested more than once. |
