I’m sure the manager has given this much thought…..he knows what he is doing imo.
We just need to offload Dykes and it has been a good close season.

Anything nearing 1 million is good business……he has so many limitations and I would be shocked if he playing skills can improve. |

You need to define what a bad egg is firstly……
Richard’s and willock have behaved pretty poorly in-house, Armstrong is going that way to.
We are better off without them imho….. |

Decent enough lad by all accounts, likeble boy.....not sure that he is the 'full ticket' though.
As for his playing skills, very limited indeed.....he gave us enough option basically but that is it. Not sure that he will ever be a regular Championship level striker. If he leaves then sobeit, not the end of the world, would be nice to get a couple of quid for him though. |

Not sure what your point is but we are 'tight' up front for top strikers but we have a raft of attacking players that can and have scored goals....
What I can say is:
How can GS go to a tournament without a fit and ready to go left footed LB and play a RB at LB is poor when he had other options - why would you do that??, to leave Grealish out of the squad and take Bowen (who isn't even young and will not be in other England squad in tournament finals) - bad, bad decision, you can add Gomez and Konza as not good selections too.
The matches in the group games, lets be honest, were or should have been pretty simple 3 wins but because of GS tactics & team selections (playing not too good and only made one or two changes from game to game which were not good either, Connor Gallagher and leave far better players on the bench - took him off at HT!!!) change and substitutions we only scrapped one win. It wasn't much different in the last 16 match against the Slovakia and just made it, the Swiss (same - made one change to the line up!!), played against Holland (very average indeed) and scrapped home, same old stuff from GS throughout. Then the final, made the right decision to start Shaw but that was it - lets be honest we played very average and GS made 1 maybe 2 changes to the starting line up in all the matches. He 'bangs on' about picking players in form - really!!!!
Onto the final, Spain were probably better than us but by not much if we were positive. I could go on about the final but we played better but generally it was much of the same. But they were beatable if we dug in and got at them - we didn't.
IMHO, GS had enough to win the tournament, he was so, so lucky with his way through the competition - only played one very decent team, all the others were very average indeed but we got 2 wins!!! There are lots more I could rant on about like winning games and resting players giving the other players game time and experience but we could not do that because we were never in a winning position to do it and take the chance.
That's it, no more about GS but I will be glad when he gets booted. I have not got a clue who I want to replace him. [Post edited 16 Jul 10:25]

Well, I would find space in the Spain team for the players that I mentioned. I like the Spanish RB but I'd have Walker over him, I would play Rice with Rodri. Venables didn't have the squad the GS had to select, to leave Grealish, the Palace LB out was poor decisions and bring Bowen (he wont be around for the next tournament!!), the L'pool player and a couple of others were further errors.
And I am not debating that Spain were not a good side but I think we had enough to win the game if we got it right (Lost their best p[layer too at HT)....they were the best we played by a million miles which shows how many poor teams that we did not beat, i'm including the mighty Holland who were very average too.
Its your opinion and that is fine, I just think that we should have won at least one of the last 3 big tournements but we failed ever time. [Post edited 15 Jul 19:26]

New season PRR....we agree 100%% 
Never rated GS as a player either actually, lucky to get caps for England. I think the FA like him because he is a 'yes man' no issues and is very clean. |

Pickford, Walker, Stones, Saka.......but before the tournament Shaw, Kane, Rice.....
Venables did ok as a top manager both Club & Country, I'm sure there are more.
GS is indefensible, some of the stuff he did was so poor, starting with his squad he picked and the players he left out didn't help whatsoever, the tactics, team selections and substitutions. And we have a very good squad of players if they are played the way that they should be doing. GS is the luckiest England Manager ever with his way through to semi final and cup finals, this Euro's he won 2 matches, during normal time, in 7 against poor to average teams, scored 7 goals - not much difference to the last tournaments. I am not saying it is all GS fault but he is the biggest offender imho. |

I do not necessarily agree that we would not have got some of our boys (4/5) in the Spain team but if you are right (and you are not) it was even more important to have a Manager that good and not an average, very average, like GS.
I would suggest that no Premier club would or will take GS as their Manager when he gets replaced, that tells a story. |

It is all very well going on about how to deal with Spain, etc, etc.....we need to get our own team right, starting with the team, tactics and making the right positive decisions before & during the match.
Sadly, the Manager, as I well thought, got most of it not right. He left players at home when they would of been a big plus if he had selected them, took players like Bowen when he is never good enough for that standard, over Grealish, no left footed left back until Shaw got fit!!, picked the wrong team mostly, tactics were not good (if the players don't do what he wants then they should not be picked), and much more.
Results were generally pretty poor overall against very average teams indeed and when we played a team that was any good (only Spain in my book, the others were either poor to pretty average) we folded - what Southgate said to the Team at HT I will never know but I know I would have told them to get started very quickly or get bitten in the bum!!
IMHO, I think we have enough good players to have won this, & the last Euro tournament against Italy, plus the World Cup semi-final against Croatia . We only got as far, in all of the Championships because of the lucky paths we got to the semi finals & finals. |

I don't know enough about all these guys that we have signed but if any of them are good forwards that can join in with scoring a few goals then I strongly believe that we have a good chance of finishing higher in the Championship that we have since relegation from the Premier......and maybe playoff's.
We have a proper decent team of players and management 'off and on' the field. |

I have no knowledge re Richards but I bet his best mate at the Club was Willock.....don't ask me why I think that!!!!
Richards, sadly, has good footballing skills but that is no good if your 'head' is all fuxxed up'. |

I don't give 'two hoots' about Willock, if he wants to go then sobeit - he isn't something we cannot replace and replace with a lot less money I would expect.

Yes, we have qualified top of the group but these games have been 'tiddly wink' stuff. The real tournament starts now. Southgate needs to make the right decisions in picking the Team (one change in 3 matches when we have been playing poorly - wtf) and employing the correct tactics for the matches from here.
We have good enough players to win this tournament if we get things right. |

I do not like a right footer playing left back.....balance is all wrong - always coming inside to his natural foot, not good for many reasons. Shaw is nowhere near being fit, hopefully he will get fit quickly perhaps. Southgate should have primed a LB to pick and not just relied on Shaw, who knows if he will be fit and who knows if his injury will not recur. Another poor decision from our Manager. |

Bowen is very average on the international stage (different level to the Premier League) and would not get a 'sniff' near the Man City team - 100%. If he was he would not be at West Ham.
If Bowen gets a start or even a subs appearance then we, England, will be struggling proper badly. |

Bowen is not top international class.....how he picks him ahead of JG only Southgate knows.
JG is fit and ready to go after limited game time this season with one of the best club sides in the world.....utter madness from Southgate which is what can be expected unfortunately.
I like Shaw but he has not played for weeks and weeks but he still picks him......very strange indeed. |
