Lee Clark interview... I'm not sure he'll stay
at 16:01 3 May 2015

Thing is Wilf I feel sorry for any possible replacement if Clark does go - they are on a hiding to nothing from a lot of fans, the most passionate and vocal who generate the most noise have already declared NAPM and will be considered by many in the same light as Clark - and games are set to be played out at home in a scarce populated and fairly soulless environment

Any replacement will be doing a total rebuild job - Riga was excited at the prospect, them realised there was no substance or backing in that mission, unless the rebuilding was done according to MFI Oyston type plans.

Clark has stated that he will be sitting down with players today - Sunday - and releasing a fair few - what good is this if he too is leaving. Finally the time it takes to find a replacement plays right into the Oyston excuse for why we were so late getting players in and why pre-season never happened and why we were so unprepared for life in Division 2 (already starting on -10 points thanks to the mob) because we needed to find the right man (we certainly learned from the mistakes made last season, squeaks new temporary chairman Sam Oyston whilst his Father sits out his lengthy 2 week ban imposed by the Football authorities)

Season Ticket prices
at 12:41 9 Mar 2015

I can imagine that ST prices will indeed raise just to make sure that there is no get out clause of being mis-sold a 2 year deal on the basis that the second season discount would not be available and that prices would raise.

Not sure how many 2 year deal season ticket holders there are (I am one of these idiots by the way much to my shame) but say 3500 took the bait.

If early bird prices are pitched around £230 (tenner a game), then another 500 might actually take them up on that offer. With Pool being relegated and a few new clubs to meet in the 3rd Division who will more than likely bring at least a 1000 following to the Seaside (with a pretty good chance that they might see their team win to boot), plus the odd floating "customer" - then I would imagine this will allow the club to publish the "Official" attendances around the 6,000 mark, though I doubt there will ever be that many inside as "actuals"

Give Clark a chance they said.....
at 19:00 3 Mar 2015

I understand that Clark still thinks he will be here next season as both he and assistant Thomoson are attending FTFC V Scunnie tonight, presumably to remind himself what a pitch looks like and how to play football on one!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that his reign will last till the end of the season and then end. This will enable the owners to have a built in excuse viz player retention and recruitment right up till the new season in League 1 starts in exactly the same manner as this - I'll still be a season ticket holder as was tricked into the 2 year fools paradise deal, but I won't be attending as i did at the start of this campaign.

All I can think when I read articles like this are that OO is knocking on a bit, and when the time comes in the next few years that will show what the measure and worth of this odious family are measured by reaction to the news, then I am reminded of those great lyrics by Elvis Costello

Well I hope I don't die too soon
I pray the lord my soul to save
Oh I'll be a good boy, I'm trying so hard to behave
Because there's one thing I know, I'd like to live
Long enough to savor
That's when they finally put you in the ground
I'll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt

And when it's KO's turn, I won't be standing, I'll be dancing!

Blimey SouthShore! I saw them live at Knebworth when Genesis were top of the bill - just after the Duke album I think - the poor sods never stood a chance, and lucky they had their plant pot hats on with all the (pre aluminium) beer cans raining in toward stage!

This is a BFC Forum - why do some see it as anything else?
at 13:10 30 Dec 2014

Agreed Ghost, it's been a long time coming though, but it's almost a pleasure - if it wasn't so sad - to read something other than vile bile!

It's interesting to see so many people venturing that a sea-change is about to take place and that the dark days of the current regime are coming to an end. If there was a Berlin Wall at Bloomfield Road I'm sure many of us would be happily chipping away with our sticks of rock to break the damn thing down and walk arm in arm into the "real world" of football where persuit of promotions and trophies are the norm and fans discuss the last match, the next match and our chances in the cup!

I've forgotten what it's like to do that, to turn up at Bloomfield Road on a match day and expect to see a decent performance over 90 minutes from my team. What I hate most is the division between fans, the division between fans and players and even between players and players.

Maybe the days of enjoyment will come back, I used to get upset for days following a defeat, weeks following a relegation but tempered by days of joy after a win and weeks for a promotion. But these days - perhaps it comes with age - I put it out of my mind in hours and days, so I can understand the anger of "youth" and what it feels like to care so much, maybe that's what's been driven out of many of us, to actually care so much it hurts!

We seem to have all but forgotten how it feels to be a "normal" fan of a "normal" club. But then have we actually been a normal club in the last 15 years? Has any other club experienced such a upward trend to peak at the Prem like a cheap firework only for the brief flash and bang to be followed by a puff of smoke and a rapid descent? (I guess Wimbledon fans could argue over that).

Your thoughts apologists???
at 19:28 20 Dec 2014

Hands up if you went today? Then you have a right to comment, anyone else well I hope you enjoyed your shopping. We were poor today and gifting two goals at the start didn't help one bit. Neither did a lack of class by Bournemouth in continuing when Nosworthy was obviously in pain and distressed which took the edge off the sheer quality of Richie's finish. A soft a penalty as you could wish for compounded a miserable day when everything ran the way of the opposition, they could do little wrong and congratulations on as complete a performance as you could wish for. What I don't want is our own so called fans glaring and delighting in our current state. In m view you might as well be nobbers so why don't you go on their board and celebrate their away win?

Don't get me wrong, our owners are to blame for our current situation, trouble is as a Blackpool fan I still want us to do well despite them! It's MY team after all - peace and love to all man!

is it time for pragmatism?

We have more chance with petula Clarke in place than lee Clark! Give it up guys we are stuffed big time! If anyone thinks Mr Nile shrugs his shoulders ranger is the key then God bless your blind optimism - zoko has more about him than Miller and ranger put together - God bless his division 3 heart - Saturday was woeful devoid of ideas and bizarre in team selection - dunne useless, McMahon midfield? Come on! Joan in midfield? Did he mix the twins up? Amazing really, the only good thing was Mr Clark's unintentional big fat Sam impression!

Jesus! Anyone who saw both the performance and team selection on Saturday will know we are already down - the rest of this season is all about getting used to the dross we will become accustomed to for the foreseeable future - goodbye the good times and hello football oblivion

New blood and more effort
at 23:26 17 Sep 2014

I think the trouble is that an awful lot of people on this site are either thread readers or thread contributors! I probably only ever started a couple of threads on the old site, but contributed to a fair few.

Not sure what's best, do we need serial thread starters like bloodtangerine et al or are we happy not to have to wade through blatant run chasing threads about which shop sells the best undies or a debate on lager versus real ale - m&s and bitter for me by the way!

Maybe folks are happy with the more thoughtful debate in a measured progress sort of way than multi thread banality with endless repetition of arguments already done to death and thus making the site look busy.

I remember a program from years ago, Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width - which is better? And queue Harry Hill

Today's Game
at 20:24 13 Sep 2014

Hard to find holes in today's performance when every player did his bit, only criticism would be that it would be even better if they all did their bit together. At times we had options in attack but chose the wrong one. First time I have seen Lewis have to work hard and was impressed with his handling. Ranger had a good second half but isn't a ball to feet kind of player but came within in inches of scoring a superb solo effort. Work rate second to none, team spirit exemplary and willingness to put bodies on the line - Peter Clarke take a bow - all in all very pleasing and great support for the team and for Riga and well concerted disapproval of the owners. We'll done everyone from players to fans - and ref wasn't bad either! 1 point and it lifts us off the bottom, how bad does that make Fulham fans feel I wonder?

so, where are we really?
at 18:29 11 Sep 2014

I recall that Owen Oyston really backed Sam Allardyce when we saw the likes of Ellis, Preece, Morrison etc come into the squad as he rebuilt a team that just missed out on promotion - I'll leave the circumstances alone with all the urban myths that surround that season. Needless to say gates actually rose that season and it was a small beginning to where we eventually peaked in the PL

Whilst other clubs around us splashed the cash, we seemed to strike a balance by picking up cast offs rejects and the odd quality player who mysteriously gelled and brought small time success back to what was a small time club. BFC are no sleeping giant by any means but I always thought that Karl Oyston supported the managers who served under his Chairmanship to a degree.

With Belekon's arrival and his hilarious assertion that Blackpool would be in the Prem in 5 years and then a stream of some quality players coming into the club and the raise of the Armfield stand and "the best trip" years I feel something has changed.

Someone mentioned it above - the association with the new stand, the premier league, Charlie Adam, DJ Campbell and Ian Holloway then who do we think of? Is it Karl and Owen Oyston? Is it Jimbo? No, it's good old Uncle Val!

This Johnny come lately has the nerve to turn up and cause success! Are recent actions by the Oyston clan really a fit of pique that THEY - those long term custodians and saviours of Blackpool FC - is this the reason we are seeing the current situation, someone feels that THEY should be the cult hero, the person who dared to stand up to those beastly agents, the man who remained unbowed by unreasonable player demands.

Are we the supporters suffering because the ego of one man who holds all the cards demands that he be considered the true hero in our recent saga and not some pipsqueak upstart from Latvia who put his money where his mouth was and did everything against the Oyston grain and achieved.

I think a very bitter man is trying his damnedest to make us all suffer for our failure to recognise the true heroes here (in his eyes not mine I hasten to add) and yes, I really do think he has taken this so very personally and is lashing out like the spoilt brat most of us believe he is.

Not being funny Jane but someone with such strong opinions about the game in General might be expected to comment on the situation at their own club whilst at the same time making comments on football in general. I've every respect for BRR and enjoy reading his comments, indeed a lot of people can't wait for them so they can respond. Generally BRR comments can spark some of the best debates I have read (and also degenerate into some of the worst, but by no means his fault!).

This site is crying out for some healthy debate and whilst we might not want to go round and round in endless circles continually chewing on the same now meatless bone, surely recent events are worthy of comment by a poster who would in the past have given some thought to the situation.

I know none of us are paid to comment, but when the big guns fall silent it seems to stifle debate as we can all plainly see by the lack of debate and interest that unfortunately seems to have befallen an excellent site that we were all encouraged to join by the self same BRR - or am I wrong?
