Glad to see the government has changed its mind on this issue, and common sense has prevailed.

Because he made that choice.

He could have taken the decision to be law abiding, and own a Gibson outside of prison. But instead decided to be a blight on society and fuk up his life.

People are in gaol for any number of reasons often times it's a case of therefore but the Grace and all that. I'm not talking about rapists and the like I'm thinking more of those fallen victim to hard times or victim of circumstance.

Let them have guitars I say, there's a country tune for all occasions.

sadly many prisoners know only one way .Its the easy way, don't have to go to school get up get a job when you can make a good living from the stupid feckers who do. THATS US BTW.
Yet mwe feel for them, we actually want to help them, we want to make them better people.
Well, that's dandy but... many see it as weak and they re laughing their fookn heads off at us who think that way.

Human behaviour as regards prisoners ,crime, punishment was neatly summed up by the ludicrious pitiful Long Longford who was truly worried about Myra Hindley. A lot of empathy and thought gone to waste.

ITS EITHER them or us and if we let them win -and we are- then we are truly fooked.

Is there such a thing now as a victim of hard times, when you consider the levels of support and charity there is in society?

Civilised yep. We allow a man who tried to rape a baby to live, another who battered a baby to death to be free within 4 years.
Civilised?you wanna see what they actually do. Trust me, if you see the results of a rehabilitated sex offender it might change minds.

It's always comfortable to appear and assume a position of Christian forgiveness and to help them.

Most don't need it don't want it...

It's not civilised out there

And while there's people withe attitude of you and darran it never will be

Prison
should always be about punishment. Evil people should be punished out of respect for their victims. To place rehabilitation above punishment is really offensive.

Its also about deterrent.

Comfortable open prisons are not

I agree completely.

The whole scam about "rehabilitation" came about partly from the "pie-in-the-sky" do-gooders, and partly to create an excuse for why prisons "fail."

And it's only getting worse -- at least it is over here.

I don't care. I'm old. I don't have to.

Im guessing the new 'private' prisons sprouting up in the UK, don't really want to rehabilitate prisoners, they want the repeat customers.
