Meanwhile ,up the road on 12:06 - Jul 5 by ScoobyDoo | I only say it Sweyn as history will tell you, we have always had bigger crowds than you, granted you have never had a bigger ground than us, not a dig a fact. Next season and possibly there after that could change, I have got to be realistic about that. Catchment areas could change, now you're an established Premiership team, see not an ounce of bitterness, should try it sometime. |
No, you'll find no bitterness in me Scoob, you should try it. You have your better history too, but we're talking about potential here. History is fine though and has its place, but no one should live in it. History is far from my thoughts when I'm watching my team play a Premier League match, I'm hoping they'll win. Your explanation for Cardiff being a 'bigger club' is because it is geographically located in a bigger conurbation with a higher population to attract a larger crowd. Get behind Bristol Rovers then. The Swans are one bad season from the Championship. And then a season in the championship from being one of the crowd, clamouring to get back on the Sky/Premier League juggernaut of modern football. The Swans have been badly run in the past, as you would only be too happy to tell us but I think it would take a few years of being extremely badly run to get to the point where Cardiff are at the moment. Yet I still see this as more likely to happen than Cardiff sort themselves out to the point where you get to an equal position with where the Swans are now. Tan, and your level of debt to him will drag you. Not having a dig, just being realistic.

Cheap shot, Phil. A complete bellend who wore a f***ing mankini is not representative to the Cardiff fanbase. I'd tried to block that image out of my mind, thanks.

"Cardiff can extend their stadium and once the Bluebirds get up, they may well need a 60,000-capacity home to cope with demand." That quote really sums up my previous post on this thread. They had fans coming on the Real Radio phone in week in week out claiming boll###s that CCFC needed to move to THE MILLENNIUM STADIUM. Yeah folks that's THE 74.500 capacity Millennium Stadium with a capacity comparable to Manchester United's Old Trafford. I have never seen a more utterly embarrassing (to themselves and club) delusional set of supporters in all my life. CCFC's fans should all book themselves en-masse into the Priory Clinic (move its practice to the Millennium Stadium) and get some well deserved treatment! They sure do need it? Matchday revenue is far less significant in the Premier League. It's a global game now and at the moment, the Swans are part of it. A team is big, purely by being there and benefitting from its riches. You won' t have bigger crowds than us unless you get promoted or we get relegated. Using the crowd size/geographical location argument, you are potentially bigger than us. Using reality as a gauge, as most outside the capital tend to do (including Sammi Ameobi I would think), we are immeasurably bigger than you right now. Wolves and Reading are as well, despite being in the same division as you and that is why Cardiff are likely to be fourth choice if those four clubs were interested in a player. Potentially though, they could easily be the biggest.

But we don't think we're big Scoobs, or care much about crowds, as that's just an accident of location. Just because you have historically slightly (and that's all it's ever been) bigger crowds than us, why does that make you think you are 'big' or have 'massive potential'. You simply don't. Cardiff is a small club that was slightly bigger than Swansea and is increasingly less so - possibly smaller already. Whoopy doo. Swansea is a 180 million times richer and is infinitely more successful. Leeds now, that is a club with big potential that has actually, unlike you lot, actually proved it.

'Find no bitterness in you'? Nah would never have thought it! . Not living in the past bud, just stating a fact, thought I explained that! Talk about Bristol Rovers, didn't they take over 40000 to Wembley for a Conference play off final? You're right for once, another team with potential, don't you think? I know we have a big debt, never denied that but you know as well as me how fickle Welsh supporters are (and I include you lot in that). We have had that debt for years but the supporters have been there. Tan has p*ssed a lot of people off, me included but I will be there next season, a few good results and i'm sure a lot more will come back. Who is wishing you get in the state we are? certainly not me bud, although you'd like to think so, never been bitter and twisted in my life, have you?

Well in regards to Wolves and Reading i'll disagree, what those two have that we don't is more respected managers, not having a dig at Slade but his profile does not match the other two.

Fair enough. It's not an exact science, it's a matter of opinion. I'm sure most Bluebirds would agree with you. What I would say though, is those two have a fairly recent history of being yo-yo Premier League clubs. Cardiff have been there once and look unlikely to repeat it at the moment. Although Cardiff has the catchment area, those two seem far more likely to go up at some point and therefore attract decent players. And higher profile managers.

Define higher profile. Mackay had a higher profile than Slade. Ole had a higher profile than Slade. Granted some of our idiots wouldn't even be happy if Guardiola took over, but given he constraints and the state of the squad when Slade took over then by any measurement he's done a good job. From 17th to mid table whilst having to trim the squad and wage bill, without spending the money previous managers have had with only the Jan transfer window which traditionally isn't the main source of transfers Of course some of the football hasn't been great but results have certainly improved to the degree we'd not be far off the playoffs next season if the results were repeated. Instead we get cretins continually slating Slade, that players won't want to play under him yadda yadda yadda..whining it's the worst we've ever been - a clear indication they only started supporting us around the cup final period. Both of us have an "advantage" of decent catchment areas without major competition - ie the crowded scene in London. That in itself means nothing or Plymouth would be regular CL winners. There's no real reason why we can't, long term, both be competitive in the Prem. We just need to get our s*** together which may take some time.

Well I haven't slagged Slade off but you can't deny some of the football we produced last season was boring, our home crowds showed that. Best I saw us play last season was Forest away, now if we start off with performances similar to that I think a lot of people might change their minds.
