I think you've hit the nail on the head there Wanderer. Any player who plays week in, week out against the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea or even Leicester or Swansea, is playing at the top level, however technically gifted he may or may not be so his level of match fitness, awareness, work rate, consistency, etc, etc have to be at that level. A replacement who regularly plays his football at a lower level, cannot be expected to have those characteristics at the same high level when dropping into a team playing against first class players from other International teams. Ledley isn't world class and never will be but he's used to playing regularly up against world class players and losing a player like that is a minus as we don't have too many of them. |  | | |
