I'm a fan of Supertramp are you ? on 13:45 - Oct 19 by Darran
Fuking hell, you must have been up early yday morning ew tw@t!!!
They were all I used to play in the car back in the day, the Christians took over for a time after my mate copied a CD and give it to me to listen to, but always played Supertramp for a change.
Off topic but I saw the Aussie Pink Floyd last night. I think I'm on my own here, but I thought they were absolute cack.
Not because they couldn't technically play the songs, they could. Brilliantly. But I think they thought they were at Wembley, not in the Colston Hall. Overmiked and overamped, you just got a wall of pretty much unbearable (for me) noise with the drummer (and I was one once) bashing shit out of the inside of your head. No light and shade at all, just relentless battering. Even Wish You Were Here was like being hit repeatedly with a hammer. How the f**k can you do that? I'm normally happy enough with loud music too and I love the songs. The mix was shocking though. Vocals totally drowned. I was an unhappy punter leaving there last night.
Still, at least absolutely everyone else seemed to enjoy it...

I find a lot of bands that play in small venue's re far to fecking loud, I can't see the need for it, it just puts you off and you say fuk it and leave.

I wouldn't call The Colston Hall a small venue. Been there many times.

I went to gig last night too, saw The Tubes in Bilston, near Wolverhamton. Small venue, very acceptable noise level and very good sound balance too. Throughly enjoyable.

I saw Aussie Pink Floyd in Cardiff when they played The Wall ( probably my least favourite Floyd album ) and they were exceptionally good . As for Supertramp, after seeing this thread earlier, I've been listening to them a lot today. Great songs and great musicians, brought back many memories !

If I was ever forced to condense my favourite albums down to 20, Crime of the Century would definitely be a contender.
They played it in its entirety in Swansea University during my first year there 1974/75. The were in the coffee bar because no one had heard of them and they had just released the album. A group of five of us all went out and bought the album the following day.
