It won't be pretty and we'll probably still lose, but the lions need to stick to a 10 man rugby game plan with Farrell at 10
With howler as backs coach,,I don't see any other option.
Howley shouldn't be anywhere near the Lions.
Look how the Blues offloaded in the tackle. Someone there on their shoulder all the time. We never do that in the NH. It can't be that difficult, can it?
Poor today. On that performance it'll be 3-0 in the tests, but there is time to improve, gel etc.

clutching at straws - in 93 the midweek team was blown away game after game, but a strong test team was robbed in the series.
There is potential for a good test team to develop, but they haven't got many games to sort it out.
No point taking NZ on at their own game, Strong scrum and maul, massive defence and baby Farrell 100% from the tee, nick the first test and go from there.

Depends on what ma=eaning you use for unlucky.
Yes good at scrums and barring one huge one, the line-outs as well. ' Should have won it at the end if it wasn't for an appealing throw in at the line-out on the 5m line. 'Blues much better with ball in hand and infinitely more inventive.
Still waiting for this 'chaos' play we are promised!

Chaos? Chaos? Continually kicking to talented opposition runners in space; inability to do any basic under pressure; no attempt to score when your forwards are on top; backs who look like they've never seen a rugby ball before.

I'd say we are beyond chaos. We're Gatshit Crazy.
Well maybe what we saw today was the chaos rugby they've been talking about.
It's a wake up call for sure and the cock waving by England hasn't helped .its not going to get easier as Christchurch is a rough ol place to play then to Dunedin .
Lions setup to play typical Gatland rugby. Kick, kick, kick, or smash it up the middle. Game plan is based on kicking for territory, getting turnovers from opposition mistakes. The problem is, NZ love being kicked the ball, saves them having to actually do anything to win it, and they can actually beat a man, or 2 (3 or 4), when running the damn thing back.
Maori squad named today has James Lowe, Damian McKenzie and Nehe Milner-Skudder at the back — aimless kicking to that lot and you deserve to lose.
What is the point in kicking the ball to the opposition? If you are incapable of running the ball you shouldnt be playing the game
Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Gatto used to keep the ball in play and rely on better fitness to win games. Or as NZ says, rely on opposition errors. That's why he never beats NZ in a test. Neither he nor Howley have ever had an attacking idea beyond Roberts smashing up the middle or North and Cuthdert smashing up the middle, or now and again, on the wing if they ever get a pass out there.
Howley has already ruined any decent back play from formerly good players in the last two games. Nobody can over emphasise how utterly shit he is. I hope he stays out there.
Lions only hope is to keep it tight. Maul and scrum their balls off, kick penalties, defend for their lives, and hope for a referee that actually applies the laws. Oh and pick all the Saracens players, English front five, a Welsh back row (except O'Brien) and scrum half and no Sexton under any circumstances.
Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.

Excellent defence, against a very good attacking team. Pity we couldn't get a try or two, to reflect our dominance.
Doesn't matter too much at this stage. The basic passing and handling skills were rather concerning mind you.
Defence and set piece will be more important in the tests though and that looked very good (the lowest points crusaders had ever scored before today apparently was 7 in 1996). With the two French referees, this might be on.
