I counted today that our squad is about 27 or 28 players so from a numbers perspective I think we are okay. Injuries can affect you at any level and make starting XI different. I don’t see it is as light as you think. We will need a bit of luck we are okay numbers wise
If no-one else comes in, is it finances or football?

Just adding a bit of context to what it was your promoting or trying to spin. Potter is not going to come out and say we’ve not got the quality needed for xyz. But, he’s suggested plenty of times weaknesses in the squad, replacements that might be needed, he even wanted woods and one or two others. |

I'm not disputing that we were interested.
What I am disputing is the narrative that he was Potter's number one target, his be all and end all and the man he wanted to shape his team around. He may very well have been, of course, but there is nothing to suggest that it was the case. | | | |

For Potter this is a win win situation. If he can develop the youngsters and we do well in the longer term, he will be seen as a great coach. If it all goes t1ts up then it's because he wasn't supported by the board and he will still retain credibility. If we bring in a couple of no-hopers tomorrow, he'll be under more pressure to achieve. He could be playing a blinder here. Of course it's not good for us supporters.  | | | |

To be clear - we obviously had some sort of interest in Woods. However, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that he was the big deal that everyone is making it out to be or that we let Potter down by not signing him. We spent a fair bit in January 2017 and again last summer, including two loanees he wanted, one of whom was disappointing and the other who will go down as one of our worst ever signings. Most people were happy with our squad when the window closed.

I have to ask where did I say in my post that it was a big deal? I was only referring the bbc article which refered to numbers and not as I said quality, experience, balance, age, blah blah. I also said that Woods was wanted by the club, which you now agree with.

Yes he said the squad was unbalanced but was ok in numbers.
I am pretty sure Clement said the squad was unbalanced as well.
And I read something from Calvahal that stated that transfers were difficult.
