He is as entitled as anyone to have freedom of thought, especially when it’s current affairs.

However, likening the policy to nazi Germans is far wide of the mark.

Nazi Germany killed its own people and anyone else they could get their hands on, same as the Russian as did.

Hardly the same.

And as the govt to an extent fund the BBC ahead was always going to be signing his retirement papers.

Lineker pushed it too far and beyond his position, rightly he is paying the price. Never think you are more important than you are and above retribution.

At this rate it will be Peter Shelton, Lee Hurst and Jim Davidson.

Once this blows over, there'll be plenty wanting the job.

M.O.T.D. Could do with a good clean out anyway.

Payrise for the biggest prick on the BBC payroll.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It doesn't need that much of a clear out,

"In a free society, the State is the servant of the people—not the master."

and tomorrow the sun will rise and set , to me it really doesn't matter, gary will continue to be a *no* and MOTD will still continue to be unwatched in my house ( unless we're on it of course)

This episode no matter if you like or loathe lineker shows that the bbc is without doubt not impartial and is now a right wing pro government organisation.

No commentary on games and players to support Lineker is the rumour.

Gary Winston Lineker on 06:38 - Mar 11 with 891 viewsGwyn737

Blimey, even Shilton has come out in support.

The thread where Clarkson backs Lineker is hysterical with cognitive dissonance. (However, the bloke who suggested Gerald takes over commentary is a genius.)

On a more practical note, having read the the BBC’s regulations on opinion risk there’s no way Lineker broke any rules. Some will think those rules are wrong but that’s a different argument.

The BBC tries to be all things to all people.

If we all accept that sometimes they or their employees will do or say something we don’t agree with it'll probably be alright.

You're right, and it falls on tit's own sword in doing so.

A much better and simpler rule, in my opinion, would be that when in work yoy have to rmain impartial but in your own time you can say what you liie as long as you don't break any laws.

This kind of cancel culture has spread to many workplaces. Inmy previous job my contract stated I must NOT say anything negative about the company or any colleagues. I failed that many times though it never came to managements attention.

If something is wrong we should be allowed to say so.

Spot on.

Those going nuts over Lineker at the moment had nothing to say when Andrew Neill was front and centre of news coverage while being boss at The Spectator.

Or when Alan Sugar was on Twitter having a pop at Mick Lynch.

The Beeb has to represent all views. That should be a given.

The puppy is still getting me up at 5 for a walk, it's our day off and we're still up early. My wife and son are still snoring away, they have easy lives aye.

I’ve got an hour and a half drive to take the boy to his football match for 9:30.

Got to get him up and fed so it’s gone down in time to play.

What if Lineker had come out and stated he fully supported the Government's proposal ans in fact they didn't go far enough ?

The most surprising thing about this for me is how many people still care about Match of the Day. Don't think I've bothered watching it for about ten years. Certainly stopped whilst we were still in the Prem.

Sitting through an hour long show at gone 22:30 when all of the goals are available on the Sky Sports website with no filler from about half six seems odd these days.

Then that would have been his prerogative as a freelance employee.

*if he breaks hate crime legislation it would be different.

He didn’t.

He stood up to the bullies.
Thats very different to siding with the bullies.

Thats the difference.
Its not this or that, its right or wrong.

And the support of others like Ian Wright is inspiring.

I hope one day you can tell the difference.

Maybe tonight they’ll actually have to show more football. I hate the endless punditry these days.

Poll: We all dream of a managerial team of Alan Tates?

I used to enjoy all the buildup/inquest but these days I can't be bothered. Just the same people repeating the same cliches.
