I don't know if "whistling past the graveyard" is in the British Lexicon of Clever Lines.
Every time I read of an athlete having said something like "We don't fear Leicester" [or some other opponent], "Whistling past the graveyard" finishes the thought.
I think athletes - particularly in the British media - get baited into saying things like this that are taken out of context.
Case in point is today's article about Fabianski in SWEP. They splash "FABIANSKI DOESN'T FEAR LEICESTER" as a sensational headline, when really he is quoted as praising them as a great team.
Monk's comments about the tense atmosphere against Bournemouth is another good example. Yet again taken out of context to make it look like he was blaming the fans.
