Corner / Set Piece Analysis
at 15:03 5 Apr 2019

After conceding 5 goals from indirect set pieces in 2 games against West Brom and Nottingham Forest, I did an in-depth analysis of set pieces, mainly corners looking at our success in the past with Clement's zonal system following our failures under Francesco Guidolin with man-marking.

Some of the stats include goals and shots from corners and how we compare with our opposition.

Potter's Average Team Shape / Formations In Last 3 Games
at 13:17 23 May 2018

If you're 2-0 down you could be struggling, getting dominated by a better side and pinned back, but in that game Ostersunds completely dominated the 2nd half and recovered well, but couldn't find the net, as explained in the article. That was what the average positions was trying to show, even if it is a small example. I could have gone on and on looking at a lot more but it was mainly to show fans what formations he's using lately, if he uses wingers etc.

Ah I was thinking short term, 9 games so far this season, but yes in wider terms they're definitely doing well, 5th place and in Europa League last season.

But I thought your point was that they were playing high up because they were doing well and could afford to? It's good to see him adopting the same positive tactics despite them struggling.

They're not doing well though really, down in 11th out of 16 and playing a couple of sides much higher in the table.

It's about team shape, balance etc so not really about getting a feel for the game as such but how he sets up his team's, and general tactics and formations used. You can see how attacking or defensive the team is by how high up their Positions are. I've only noticed them to give a false representation when players swap sides, otherwise they're accurate judging from ours last season.

And obviously we're not in the Premier League now so that point doesn't matter. Potter appears to be clever enough to tactically decide what's best for different situations.

Stats Comparison - Just How bad It's Getting
at 10:15 2 May 2018

Yeah it's more to do with style of play and how defensively we're getting compared to the days of Rodgers and Laudrup, hence the passing and possession chart in the article. We all know how bad it's getting, I suppose the stats help to show just how bad it's getting.

The main reason for not including Bradley is because it was a comparison of managers' spells at the end of the season, seeing through Premier League survival (Guidolin and Clement), let's hope it's the same for Carvalhal. There's some other charts in the article that include all managers.

Real Betis Fans' Views on Jordi Amat
at 09:04 29 Apr 2018

Some interesting comments here from Real Betis fans on Jordi Amat. Sounds like he's made a few big mistakes, like he did on occasion for us, but is now a regular starter in a Betis defence who have kept 6 consecutive clean sheets and in 5th position in La Liga.

Should we offer him a new deal or look to sell this Summer, as his contract expires next year.

Analysis - Clement vs Carvalhal

A detailed look into what Carvalhal has done to turn things around this season following a disastrous first half to the campaign under Paul Clement.

Plus a stats comparison comparing both Carvalhal and Clement's quick impact at the club.

Should he be given a new contract or do we need to learn from past mistakes and think it through thoroughly in the Summer? The player recruitment obviously has a huge impact too on how next season pans out for us.

Tactical match analysis of the 4-1 win against West Ham, great to see us playing and attacking through the middle and press high with energy, such a huge difference compared to Clement's dull tactics.
